We are currently looking for an energetic Electronics Engineer to join our R&D team in Zurich, Switzerland and to work in a fast paced, international development environment with direct interaction across the Electrical, Optical and Software teams. The candidate should have technical skills in order to drive product development to volume manufacturing.
In this position you will take on challenges in areas that include:
Design and develop of electronics for ultrafast laser systems.
Design, prototype assembly, verification, testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
DFQ – design for quality. Perform environmental stability tests (temperature cycles, shock and vibration).
DFM – design for manufacturability. Define assembly processes. Support process engineering in the transfer of new designs to volume production.
Design documentation (Bill of Materials, schematics, production files and work instructions).
Risk assessment & regulatory compliance testing (EMC, CE).
Work within cross-functional international teams and collaborate with development partners and related outside services.
Hands-on worker with strong affinity to manual tasks.
Good understanding of general electrical design practices, in particular design for quality and manufacturability.
Strong analytical skills, judgment and problem solving ability.
Team player with excellent communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Self driven working with domestic and off-shore CMs, OEMs and design partners.
Creative problem solving skills.
Drive to design and build hardware in rapid fashion while rigorously applying electrical engineering best practices.
BS (or higher) in Electrical Engineering with 1 to 5 years experience in an industrial development environment.
PCB Design with Altium or similar tool is a must.
Cable design with Solidworks or similar tools is preferred.
Experience in Test & Reliability engineering (HALT/HASS) is preferred.
Practical skills and strong hands-on experience (SMD soldering, prototypes assembly, cables).
Familiarity with high-power electronics (kW) is a plus.
Experienced with RF electronics, measurement instruments.
Commercial mind-set, project coordination & planning abilities.
International travel (up to 10-15%) required to evaluate vendors and co-operate with other design and manufacturing teams.
Fluent English a must, German a plus.
Must be eligible to work in Switzerland on a full-time basis. Preferentially Swiss or EU / EFTA.
