Location/Division Specific Information
We are a research, development and production site in Bremen currently, with about 500 employees, whose “high -end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets.
The Electrical Engineer will partner with R&D teams at the early stages of product development to introduce innovative manufacturing approaches that will remove cost from complex electrical assemblies. This role will also oversee the technical development of value-driven designs and partner with the sourcing team to develop qualified suppliers. In addition, this role will oversee engineering initiatives to drive best–in-class value and product quality improvement for the group/enterprise.
What will you do?
Provide product technical expertise and support to suppliers
Optimize the assembly process and BoM structures to support and outsourcing to Low Cost Regions
Ability to perform minor design work ensuring changes do not affect product specifications or design intent
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on material cost reduction, capacity enhancement, and streamlining of the supply chain.
Perform robust root cause analysis of production issues, implement appropriate containment, and drive corrective action on electronic sub-modules
Write and maintain work instructions and Device History Records
Assist in the design of tooling and fixtures for production and suppliers
How will you get here?
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (MS highly preferred) or related engineering field
Several years of experience in delivering high quality product designs as part of complicated multi-component systems
Experience designing high precision analog and low frequency RF circuits
Experience on a product development team from initial investigation and design through to manufacturing introduction
Strong hands-on use and knowledge of design and testing tools such as Mentor, OrCAD, PSpice, Allegro, & DMM’s
Experience with latest PCB layout, assembly and manufacturing techniques including material selection and SMT.
Able to independently execute design verification based on circuit specifications.
Work with component vendors to bring in-house latest advancements in electronics.
Experience in low volume, high-value large complex systems such as scientific instrumentation, medical devices, or semiconductor process systems is highly preferred
Experience with the design of electro-mechanical systems for operation in stress conditions (thermal, chemical, pressure, etc.).
Experience generating engineering specifications from marketing requirements
Experience with product verification and validation testing to confirm specifications and product performance
