Facebook is seeking a Data Center Design Engineering Manager experienced in leading an in-house team of engineers and architects. The successful candidate will provide guidance and empower the team to deliver Critical Facilities to support the needs of the company’s expansion plans. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates enabling innovation for the company. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. The data center design engineering team approaches facility design from the chips on the server boards to the facility mechanical and electrical distribution systems which ensure and maximize efficiency of our compute infrastructure. This position is full-time and located in our Dublin office.
Design Engineering Manager, Data Center Design Responsibilities
  • Lead the team in the design and development of data center critical infrastructure systems
  • Develop and lead updates to the design standards and specifications for consistency and maximum system reliability
  • Provide mission critical system review services to local data center facility operations teams
  • Support the data center commissioning (Integrated System Test) for new and retrofitted data centers
  • Research new designs, materials, and construction methods for data center gear and related components
  • Provide and review detailed scripts for change management request activities
  • Develop capital project budgets and complex business case analyses
  • Provide and analyze energy efficient solutions to minimize losses
  • Travel to data center sites for engineering studies, startup testing, and full commissioning, as required
  • Support equipment failure or power outage related incident Root-Cause-Analysis
  • Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies
  • Engage with corporate user groups and stakeholders
  • Engage with the other management teams
Minimum Qualifications
  • A BS in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or BArch.
  • Professional registration (CEng) is required
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years professional experience in data center design, construction, operations, and maintenance
  • Must hold knowledge of building regulations across all engineering disciplines such as mission critical power distribution, Building Management/Automation Systems, DC Cooling systems, and architectural building design
  • Should possess knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including, IEC, CIBSE and BS Standards
  • Must have strong cross-discipline knowledge of complete critical facility systems
  • Strong trouble shooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to provide solutions to complex projects under pressure
  • Must have effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be familiar with MS products, Autodesk platform, Revit, Navisowrks, AutoCAD, Visio, and SKM software
  • Experience in an owner’s representative position and collaborating with facilities operations a plus
