CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking Aviation Engineering Managers to join our Aviation Practice in our Knoxville, TN office and Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, or Albany, NY office. Our airport client mix served from these offices include commercial service and general aviation clients.

The Aviation Manager will be responsible for the management of staff in his/her group. This individual will be measured on his/her staff’s technical quality, utilization of his/her staff on varied projects and work, and adherence to project budgets.


Management Responsibilities:

  • This individual will lead design development and will recommend solutions to the Aviation Technical Leader on technical issues related to his/her discipline. In addition, this individual will abide by the appropriate standards and quality checks and assist with the implementation of them to ensure process adherence across their team.
  • The Aviation Section Manager will work closely with the Aviation Technical Leader on the hiring, terminating, promotion, recognition, and overall growth and performance of the technical staff on their team.
  • The Section Manager assists the Technical Leader on project assignments to plan staff workload, assess backlog, and maximize the utilization goals of the technical staff within the respective technical group.
  • This individual will be responsible for meeting a utilization goal by performing work on billable projects.

Discipline Specific Responsibilities:

Design and construction engineering for airside and landside construction projects including: runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, utilities, drainage and grading plans, and construction cost estimating. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of a project.
  • Develops and manages technical work plans to coincide with milestones of a project.
  • Develops Technical Engineering Design Reports.
  • Leads airfield engineering design team.
  • Completes field assignments, when appropriate.
  • Develops engineering design work scope.
  • Assists with business development and industry involvement activities
  • Allocates billable time to projects.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
