We have an exciting new opportunity for a talented and highly experienced Controls Engineering Projects Manager to join our team in Sydney. Our Controls Engineering team is made up of experienced engineers with diverse knowledge and technical background. This is a permanent full-time position that is responsible for delivering on key large-scale projects. The ideal candidate would have commenced their career in Controls Engineering focused roles that developed into a highly experienced Project Manager. You will be a key member of the controls engineering group showing leadership maturity by leading the day to day management and delivery of the control’s project teams and key lead for the sub-contractor management processes.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Managing resourcing and controls project team staff planning, including coordination and planning of sub-contractors for installation activities
• Support teams with day to day activities ensuring client and Dematic expectations are being met
• Ensure major controls installations are delivered as planned and supervised adequately
• Developing key performance indicators for Dematic teams and sub-contractors to meet against project milestones and budgets
• Drive project cost competitiveness and continuous improvement for the group
• Provide accurate and concise feedback on all aspects of completed project execution to key stakeholders
• Lead the development and maintaining project engineering standards & processes
• Responsible for preparing and assisting others with project functional specifications
• Conformance to Dematic OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work
• Manage the procurement of parts, equipment, cabinet manufacturing and electrical installation activities on site
• Manage and guide the testing and commissioning activities
• Preparation of test plans and operator & technical manuals
• Manage the training of client personnel as part of handover process
• Facilitate the hand over to Dematic Customer Service team for ongoing site maintenance support

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications & experience:

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or similar scientific discipline
• Experience managing large teams, or several years’ experience working as a Project Manager for very large-scale projects
• Strong understanding of financial outcomes and ability to meet critical deadlines
• Strong communication and leadership skills, including the ability to liaise with all levels of staff and external stakeholders
• Extensive experience in electrical design and installation, sound knowledge of AS3000 & AS4024.1
• Knowledge of machine control, safety and functional safety principles
• Knowledge of materials handling system controls highly desired
• Experience in writing of technical documentation
• Technical knowledge of configuration, programming and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable speed drives, barcode scanners and safety devices highly regarded
• Extensive experience in managing installation teams and sub-contractors
• Willingness to travel during the installation and commissioning phase of a project within Australia and occasionally overseas
• Ability to work in project based environment as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
• Ability to build trusting and credible relationships with customers and key stakeholders
