Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Event Specialist – Production Services, Continuing Professional Development, leads the Production Services team in the operation and execution of the technological components for the live and/or webcast production of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs for lawyers and paralegals, internal departmental events and external client bookings in the Donald Lamont Learning Centre (“Learning Centre”). Oversees and participates in the preparation of all audio visual equipment and components required for the event based on direction from the Team Leader - Production Services and Program or Event Coordinator. Ensures and tests required equipment, prepares all media content, liaises with presenters / moderators. Operates production equipment, including video switcher, audio mixer, iPads, laptops, etc. Follows program direction from the Team Leader – Production Services. Provides direction to Senior Production Technicians and Event Technology Coordinator based on instructions from Team Leader-Production. Leads and participates in the execution of the event and provides post-event analytics on equipment use/failures, webcasting, event logistics, processes, technology use, live and online attendance, question/chat logs, issues and other production related areas to Team Leader-Production and Program or Event Coordinators

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A college diploma in live web or event and media production
  • Minimum of five years related experience, providing direction and support in live web or television production and the proven ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Minimum three years of experience in setup of audio visual systems for live events.
  • Minimum three years of experience with video capture, videoconferencing, audio-visual, collaboration, presentation technologies, video production and editing.
  • Digital media recording and editing tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Experience lighting for live events and video production.
  • Industry-standard AV technologies, including videoconferencing and web streaming products.
  • Integrated AV control system setup and use.
  • Manual dexterity for installation and repair of AV equipment; the ability to solve complex technical and logistical problems.
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation is an asset.
  • Able to explain technical requirements to non-technical colleagues.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Speaks in a clear, articulate manner for individual and/or group situations.
  • Reasons through complex technical information.
  • Remains calm and clear headed in high pressure, fast paced event environment.

Client / Customer Service Delivery

  • The Event Specialist – Production Services, CPD, guides the Production Services team in the operation and execution of the technological components for the live and/or webcast production of CPD programs, internal department events and external client bookings in the Learning Centre as well as other venues as required.
  • The Event Specialist – Production Services, CPD is the on-site live-event technical producer and liaison for all webcast and audio visual components in the Learning Centre.
  • Oversees the operation and execution of CPD related webcasts and events and handles the day-to-day tasks related to the production of these programs.
  • Provides direction, assignments and tasks related to the events to Senior Production Technicians and Event Technology Coordinator.
  • Provides assignments and tasks to contract staff on system maintenance, testing and inventory control.
  • The Event Specialist – Production Services liaises with internal and external clients regarding their events and communicates any technical challenges or special requests to Team Leader- Production Services for resolution.
  • Conducts pre-program filming of vignettes, editing and post program webcast archiving/bookmarking requirements.
  • Coordinates technical requirements and support for internal-department uses and external bookings of the Learning Centre and other locations where required.
  • Provides clear guidance when first level issues arise, and consults with Team Leader-Production Services to Production Services team to meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Provides post event analytics and reports on team operations and results to Team Leader-Production Services.

Special Projects and Initiatives

  • Works with the Team Leader- Production Services to develop and improve processes and protocols of equipment and live-event production standards in the Learning Centre.
  • Provides support and assistance for the creation of on-trend multi-media content for e-Courses (filming and editing), internal departmental requests.
  • Generates and analyzes post-program webcast and polling reports to ensure effective execution.
  • Assists with lifecycle planning for audio visual system upgrades and improvements.
  • Contributes meaningfully to any audio visual related procurement processes, such as RFQ’s, RFP’s and RFI’s.

Team Membership

  • Works closely with Team Leader-Production Services and other members of the CPD team, as required, to execute the smooth delivery of CPD programs.
  • Works with internal departmental stakeholders to help successfully execute events in the Learning Centre and other venues as required. Supports and assists Team Leader- Production with the training of Production Services staff.
