Hiring salary range
$61,224 - $77,337

Position Purpose

Evaluates problems involving faculty space and facilities and recommends solutions or improvements. Prioritizes day-to-day operations to ensure research and teaching activities continue as needed. In a context of constant change, ensures complex building infrastructure and sophisticated equipment remain up and running in order to minimize potential impacts on staff, students, buildings and equipment.

Essential Qualifications

College diploma in a related field (architecture, building science or civil, mechanical or electrical engineering technology), or at least five years’ equivalent experience
Minimum of two years’ experience in building management, ideally in an educational or research setting
Knowledge of mechanical systems and building maintenance systems, including those for engineering research laboratories (HVAC, controls, service distribution, chemical fume hoods, mechanical and electrical systems)
Knowledge of construction, electrical and mechanical trades, ability to read architectural and engineering drawings
Project management knowledge for small construction and relocation projects
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as it relates to construction and the use of equipment and tools
Basic knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and environmental standards
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), Windows, the internet and AutoCAD considered an asset
Ability to handle competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
Communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written)
