FEMA O&M Windows System Admin (Job Number:439062)
Performs high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers. Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities. Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Plans and implements the modernization of servers. Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules. Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Incumbent develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures. Incumbent in this job works closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented. - Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
- Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: Secret
- Clearance Level To Obtain: Top Secret (TS)
- Microsoft certifications in both the current operating systems and any related applications
- Broad knowledge of Network and Server systems with a strong ability to understand complex environments in order to perform a thorough root cause analysis
- Knowledge in System Patching and Virus protection Products
- Knowledge in distributed backup solutions and procedures of different hardware and software vendors specifically but not limited to HP, NetApp, EMC, and Dell hardware and CA and Symantec software
- Must have strong knowledge in enterprise System design including virtualization, SAN, DAS, and NAS Systems, data replication and consolidation
- Knowledge of the Network protocol TCP/IP including sub-netting and routing
- Experience in translating business requirements and designs into technical designs
- High level of written communication and documentation skills
- Experience with Government IS Security C&A processes
