In this role, you’ll be responsible for assisting distributors and customers in rigging, troubleshooting, and repairing Manitowoc Cranes’ products, training distributors on set-up and maintenance of their first new model products, and providing technical support.  Reporting to the Senior Technical Service Manager, this position is located in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provide aftermarket service support for Manitowoc Cranes products on-site and over the phone.
  • Assist distributors and customers with trouble shooting and problem solving all technical service, installation, repair, or modification issues.
  • Maintain distributor relations pertaining to parts, service and warranty, while coordinating efforts with department manager.
  • Analyze reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service and maintenance processes. Offers technical information for resolution when required.
  • Coordinate and Administer Service Bulletins and Product Improvement Programs across multiple product lines.  Assist other contact center team Product Specialists with vendor negotiation as well as communications with legal and product safety and reliability in reference to PIP's and Bulletins.
  • Provide direction and participation with IPD and IPC processes.
  • Interact with Manitowoc Cranes personnel on matters pertaining to service materials, product requirements, and code compliance.
  • Plan and coordinate activities related to investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems by utilizing applicable processes to eliminate future operational or service difficulties.
 

Qualifications

 
JOB REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering or related field required, with minimum five (5) years of experience in manufacturing, heavy equipment distribution, or customer service; OR High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum nine (9) years of experience in off/highway construction equipment (preferably cranes) or related field dealing directly with equipment distributors, owners, and users primarily in a product or customer support capacity in lieu of degree.
  • Must be able to read, understand and work with schematics; must have experience using various electrical and hydraulic diagnostic tools.
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic knowledge of cranes and above average knowledge of general crane technology and operation is preferred.  Experience in crane rigging and assembly a plus.
  • Must possess strong verbal communication, writing, and interpersonal skills; as well as organizational and time management skills.  Strong decision making and problem solving skills required.
  • Strong computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Excel, and Word is necessary.
  • This position will work primarily outdoors on cranes performing troubleshooting, diagnostic and disassembly/assembly work in various weather conditions.  Must be able to climb, work at various heights, lift 50 lbs., and travel in all types of transportation, both inside and outside the United States. 
  • Travel required at least 75% of the time.  Must possess or have the ability to acquire a US passport; must be able to obtain a personal credit card with $5k minimum limit for sole use in extended travels and incurred business expenses.
