Job Overview
The Knoxville Finance Manager leads the site Finance function and serves as a strategic thinking business partner to the Knoxville site leadership team. This leader will operate in a fast-paced environment and will require strong manufacturing or operational finance acumen. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and emotionally intelligent leader who has the flexible skillset need to guide the plant in a stable and lean manufacturing environment.
The Finance Manager partners with the site director and leadership team to guide the operation to make optimal financial decisions, drive productivity, operate within budget and achieve results predictably and sustainably. The Finance Manager ensures appropriate methods and controls are developed and executed to monitor product costs, production variances inventory, fixed assets, capital spend and other key operational metrics critical to running the site and to making critical, time-sensitive decisions. This team player manages the work of Financial Analysts and will produce accurate and timely financial information and analysis as well as promotes an environment of strong internal controls and efficiencies. This position is located in Knoxville, Tennessee and is part of the Knoxville Site leadership team, however with a direct line reporting relationship to Director of Finance – Manufacturing located in Vermont.
The Finance Manager will provide critical analytical support to drive business value.
What you will do:
+ Serve as visible leader and drive business value
+ Hire, develop & lead site’s financial team to thrive in a high performance culture where contributors will have a high degree of autonomy to work independently toward clear goals and objectives
+ Develop & oversee preparation, review and submission of the site’s annual budget and quarterly forecasts
+ Proactively manage risk/opportunity in financial performance vs budget and forecasts on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis and communicates/escalates as necessary
+ Partner with leadership to develop and maintain meaningful site KPIs that serve as leading indicators to success
+ Partner with leadership to identify opportunities in spend and/or risks so action can be taken to improve site KPIs
+ Partner with the site’s productivity lead as key stakeholder, assisting with, establishing, validating, tracking and monitoring productivity initiatives
+ Develop, monitor and report-out on labor, overhead and material usage variances for the site for ongoing operations
+ Partner with other site Finance Managers in the network to identify and develop best practices for ongoing operations; will require coordination, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the department/team and creating a positive climate where people want to do their best
+ Accountability for evaluating and monitoring controls over the site’s inventory
+ Provide assurance that inventory transactions occur timely and are accurate and inventory is properly valued identified and reserved for if there are defects and/or quality issues
+ Evaluate and monitor controls over other plant assets (i.e. fixed assets, maintenance parts, etc.)
+ Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's principles, policies and applicable laws
What you must have:
+ Education/Experience:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field is required with 8-12 years of related experience with 3-5 of those in a supervisory role;
+ MBA and/or CPA preferred
+ Required Technical Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes:
+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to propose business solutions to problems
+ Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
+ Ability to work with, communicate with, and influence a variety of stakeholders
+ Strong knowledge of cost accounting and finance theories such as valuation of inventories, capacity/yield assumptions, product costing
+ Ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately
+ Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
+ Good organizational skills and able to handle a high work volume
+ Self-motivated positive team player
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Experience with SAP and Hyperion Planning preferred
+ Ability to travel occasionally
+ Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including overtime
+ Ability to uphold safety standards, participate in continuous process improvement on the job, and follow our manufacturing best practices
+ Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions
