Role Purpose

  • HSBC is currently going through a period of transformative digital change and to remain competitive, must ramp up productive capacity in Digital and remove unnecessary barriers to go faster.
  • To achieve this an integrated team to design, build and run digital services: HSBC Digital Solutions (HDS) is being created . This new group will accelerate delivery by creating a common sense of purpose, unifying delivery accountability, pioneering new ways of working and enabling faster decisions to deliver the agreed digital agenda.
  • Bringing together over 3,000 colleagues from across the Group, HDS will focus on designing, building and running digital services in HSBC. It will strengthen a shared sense of purpose, unify delivery accountability and enable faster execution.
  • The Digital Finance Manager   will be a critical role to enable the success of HDS and will be responsible for monitoring costs and operate financial control processes to effectively manage spend (including invoices and expenses management) against budgets within the HDS business.
  • The role will report will report to the Head of Digital Financial Planning & Control.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with the Head of Digital Financial Planning & Control, Technology & Business Finance lead and other key stakeholders from Global Digital, HOST and Global Functions to maintain sound cost control processes and lead invoice and expenses management processes.

  • Support preparation of regular financial submissions for the Digital Portfolio Investment Committee (PIC) working with the Portfolio Assurance and Delivery Management teams to provide an accurate picture of financial budgets and current spend rates.

  • Support the analysis of costs/processes and present with suggested solutions to problems.

  • Perform detailed financial modelling to inform and support the full range of programme or business projects.

  • Maintain an accurate record of 3 rd party vendor spend, working with the Procurement Enablement Lead.

  • Support the management of global recharge policy and allocations to RBWM markets.

  • Support the management and alignment of spend from global cost codes.

  • Maintain and support the development of new financial policies and procedures to meet expanding Digital business needs.

  • Support and implement process efficiencies across the finance team working with the Finance Process Reengineering Lead.



  • An individual comfortable with a high level of ambiguity prepared to relentlessly drive through extensive change to an aggressive timeline.

  • Experience working in a Business / Technology Finance role preferably in a large corporate.

  • Effective written and oral communication and influencing skills, including creating strong financial narratives to support deck and report materials.

  • Useful to have experience of working in agile environments with cross functional teams.

  • Experience managing teams to deliver to tight deadlines.

  • Accountancy qualified (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with relevant finance experience.

  • Proven planning and prioritising skills.

  • An entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to deconstruct and solve problems.

  • Be a go-to person for finance queries from Digital teams.  

  • You must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, good judgement showing logical decision making, and a hands on approach.

  • Good understanding of Digital businesses.

  • Strong PowerPoint, Word and expert Excel skills.

  • Strong work ethic, professional and personable.
