The Role

To provide regulated financial advice and guidance to individuals covering the following areas:
  • At and in-retirement financial planning
  • DB to DC transfers and Occupational DC to SIPP transfers
  • Detailed AA and LTA planning
  • High level Estate planning
  • Take a lead role in the Financial Planning Group’s investment committee
  • Investment advice and subsequent portfolio reviews
  • Workplace financial education
Performance Objectives:
Clients
  • The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Provide high quality advice to clients - applying specialist knowledge innovatively to provide high quality specific advice in a cost effective manner, while also supporting senior consultants with advice based client material.
  • Display strong knowledge of financial planning topics, sufficiently strong to provide written and verbal advice to clients, prospects and colleagues on these topics
  • Take a lead role in the FPG’s Investment Committee, maintaining links with the wider WTW Investment practice, helping to maintain and develop the FPG’s core investment proposition
  • Build credibility with clients and / or prospects to take on additional individual clients / account responsibilities
  • Deliver face to face elements of any workplace structured financial education projects
  • Monitor and promote client satisfaction, including managing client expectations on budgets and timescales, in conjunction with WTW team
  • Cultivate relationships beyond the initial client appointment with a view to broadening or deepening the services provided
  • Develop and make presentations to clients and prospects that display high levels of influence and persuasion as a result of clear written and verbal communications
  • Lead marketing efforts for individual client opportunities
Excellence
  • An excellent standard of written communication skill will be required. In addition the candidate should be able to:
  • Constructively challenge thoughts and ideas of peers and senior colleagues, demonstrating independent thinking; analyse, synthesise and articulate complex technical and regulatory issues
  • Ensures compliance with the WTW Excellence framework
  • Maintain their Statement of Professional Standing status, meet the WTW CPD requirements and comply with the WTW standards for advice relating to regulated new business
People
  • The candidate will be required to:
  • Positively mentor and develop junior associates through formal process and also informally through day-to-day interaction
  • Ensure support team members have a thorough understanding of what is required of them
  • Clearly specify task requirements to Paraplanners/administrators to ensure work is delivered efficiently and to budget
  • Actively build own network of contacts within WTW and providers
Financial
  • Willis Towers Watson operates a fee-based structure. The ability to work efficiently and delegate work will be essential, as will accurate time recording.
 

The Requirements
  • Suitable professional qualification, such as DipPFS with AF7, AF3 or G60 - to be able to provide DB to DC transfer advice and advice on at retirement income options from registered pension scheme.
  • Given the proposed lead role on the investment committee, holding J12 (or its equivalent) to be able to advise on Investment Trusts and Gilts is a requirement for the role.
  • Holding J05 would also be an advantage and support to progress towards Chartered status will be provided.
  • A detailed understanding of pension and investment products is essential with a good understanding of both SIPP and occupational pensions preferred.
  • A strong understanding of the AA/LTA tax regime for registered pensions.
  • An excellent standard of written and oral communication is required. The candidate should be an individual who can learn quickly, use their own initiative and organise their own workload effectively.
  • Experience in a “time cost” fee based environment would be an advantage.
  • A good working knowledge of Excel and Word is required and experience of Financial Express Analytics and Intelliflo or other back office system would be advantageous.
