What will you do?

The primary focus of the Senior Financial Manager: Actuarial Finance is to engage and facilitate integration between the Actuarial and Finance reporting environments. The role is instrumental in reporting financial results that enables business in effective and efficient decision making.

Outputs / Core Tasks:

  • Stakeholder management between SLS Actuarial and Finance Reporting teams.
  • Monitor and oversee the effective integration between Finance Reporting solutions.
  • Timeous monthly and quarterly reporting of profits and capital.
  • Profit analysis and an understanding of results from the Actuarial reporting team which feeds into the Sanlam financials.
  • Oversee the integration of financial results from Actuarial reporting solutions to the Group consolidation tool.
  • Managing and developing the team responsible for financial reporting from Actuarial reporting solutions to the Group consolidation tool and financials.
  • Responsible for ensuring Actuarial results (for current and future developments) meets financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee reporting and analytics on balance sheet and cash flow management (internal finance/shareholder fund analysis).
  • Internal Finance with regards to managing impact on profit and balance sheet forecasting which will need to be monitored monthly.
  • Engagement with auditors (internal and external).
  • Ensuring that the current control environment meets financial reporting requirements.

What will make you successful in this role?

Role Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant CA(SA)

Experience:

  • 4 years’ post articles experience in a Financial Reporting environment at a Long-term Insurer.
  • IFRS 17 experience (in a Long-term insurance environment).
  • Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) experience will be an advantage.
  • SAP exposure will be an advantage
  • Management experience preferable
  • Advanced Excel skills

Knowledge:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Sound Insurance Industry knowledge
  • Good knowledge of Sanlam processes and products would be an advantage
