1- Context

Control & Signaling (C&S) is an activity belonging to Industry/ Industrial Controls & Drives within Schneider Electric’s Industrial Automation business.

C&S portfolio is composed of:

  • Electromechanical control panel elements (push buttons, light indicators, joysticks, pendant stations…)

  • Electronics control panel elements (wireless and batteryless push buttons, biometric switch)

  • Industrial remote-control: wireless hoisting remote control

  • Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) monitoring solutions: wireless gateways and industrial sensors

  • Electromechanical industrial relays, Electronics industrial relays

  • Tower lights, beacons and sound signalling systems

With about 600 M€ turnover, C&S is at present N1 worldwide leader on control panel elements and ambitions to become N1 worldwide leader on relays and signalling systems. Commercializing products and services to enable new Industry 4.0 applications is one of the pillars of the vision for the activity for the coming years. C&S team members are located in Singapore and Angouleme (south-west of France), under a common management team.

2- Job Description

R&D department of the Control & Signaling is a multi-functional team and we value creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for innovation. Within this team you will take part in the design of innovative products for digitalizing our industrial control panel elements. You will work on developing software involving RTOS, mix-criticality systems, multi-core architectures and other industrial embedded systems trends & technologies. All this to deliver on our ambition of building best in class products creating new values for our customers through both Real-time Industrial Control and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications.

In particular, you will be responsible for the software design and software/ hardware integration within one or several projects. You will lead your own work, as well as the work of subcontractors and various Start-Up partners. Your role within the project will have several dimensions: Designer, and technology domain leader.

You will work in close collaboration with other R&D designers, marketing, purchasing and quality within C&S as well as other innovation & technology teams inside Schneider Electric worldwide.

Details of the missions:


  • Development of Software design/architecture specification aligned with product requirements.

  • Designing, implementing, and testing real-time C/C++ software for multi-core systems running Linux or a real-time operating system, such as VxWorks, RTLinux, QNX etc.

  • Design, implementation/integration of board support packages.


  • Specification and follow up of functional/integration tests on hardware platform.

  • Provide domain knowledge support to other R&D team members to ensure real time embedded technologies’ seamless integration into the final product.

  • Contribute in the continuous improvement of our Software Engineering Practices (SWEP), process & tools.



  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent

Technical skills:

  • Senior software developer for real time systems using C (C++), at least 3+ years’ experience.

  • Software architecture know-how and experience with modelling techniques using UML.

  • Experience with multi-core architectures and board support package/kernel programming for embedded real time operating system.

  • Experience using version control (SVN, GIT, etc.) and Software engineering lifecycle management tools (Confluence, Jira, Jfrog etc.).

  • Real-time (Industrial control) system and functional safety know-how is a plus.

  • Cybersecurity experience and experience with Secure Development Lifecycle is a plus.

Soft skills:

  • Pragmatic, industry oriented

  • Teamwork oriented and good relationship. Focused on team objectives and success.

  • Open to multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environments. International working or academic experience would be strongly appreciated

  • Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

  • Rigorous and autonomous

  • Able to manage subcontractors or external partners

Fluent English speaker: project documentation shall be in English; strong collaboration with international R&D centres and suppliers. Fluent French speaker would be appreciated but it is not compulsory.
