Are you a passionate Food Technology Teacher ready to equip students with real-life skills through creative and practical learning? A forward-thinking secondary school in Colchester is looking for a dedicated educator to join their team from September 2025. This contract position is open to both part-time and full-time applicants and offers an exciting opportunity to deliver a dynamic food and nutrition curriculum in a modern teaching environment.

You’ll be working within a well-established DT department, delivering engaging, hands-on lessons and promoting key skills such as healthy living, food safety, and independent learning. With strong leadership support, a collaborative team culture, and a focus on student wellbeing, this is a brilliant opportunity to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Teach both practical cooking and theoretical nutrition-based content.
  • Ensure lessons promote food safety, hygiene, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide effective feedback and support.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and extra-curricular enrichment activities.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider DT and teaching team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS and a degree in Food Technology or a related subject (essential).
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting (preferred).
  • Strong classroom management and practical teaching skills.
  • Knowledge of current food safety standards and nutritional education.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on learning and creative curriculum delivery.
  • Willingness to participate in school-wide events and initiatives.
