Job Summary
As part of the Data Science and Innovation team, you will be driving positive change by building, maintaining, and enhancing data-sharing platforms for the world to utilize. You will become a valuable member of the team, predominantly working on frontend development and effective UI and UX design. You will join developers that use a variety of technologies across a multitude of applications and platforms, with ample opportunity to learn and teach with your peers.

Our Tech
The Data Science and Innovation team makes extensive use of JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3, HTML5, version control systems such as Git and SVN, and a variety of web services and APIs. Our applications are custom-built to meet the specific requirements of our clients. These applications have unique considerations for security and users. They require complex and efficient frontend solutions, which gives us the flexibility for innovative development.
We build most of our applications in AWS environments using various combinations of PHP, Python, Mongo, MySQL and ElasticSearch.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Relevant Master's Degree . Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience . Working knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Skilled in problem solving, written and verbal communication. Ability to use various computer software programs.

Preferred Qualifications
What the successful candidate will be doing:
+ Develop innovative interfaces using a variety of modern technologies
+ Work with a team of developers to develop and implement a multitude of applications across multiple platforms
+ Assist with project proposals and presentations as needed
+ Communicate with clients on a regular basis
+ Build reusable code for future use
+ Optimize applications for maximum performance
+ Take ownership of key deliverables and assume responsibility for the continued success of their projects
Preferred Qualifications
+ JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3, HTML5
+ Git, SVN, or other code repository
+ Web services, API’s, JSON
+ Common cyber security issues, including form validation, variable trapping, and XXS prevention.
+ Bootstrap and/or Materialize
+ PHP and/or Python
+ MySQL and/or Mongo
+ Basic Linux commands and experience using the CLI
+ Data visualization frameworks like D3 or Highcharts.
+ Working knowledge and experience with client/server environments and open-source software useful in creating interactive, web-based, geographic analysis tools
+ Knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies
+ Self-directed and capable of working well alone and with others
+ Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and client service skills
+ Strong initiative and ability to research, learn, and apply new Internet tools and practices
