An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Full Stack PHP Developer to join our small, dynamic development team at I’m In The Right, a growing Australian business making a genuine difference for people during stressful times.
About the Role:
If you enjoy working across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), supporting and evolving in‑house systems, and collaborating with experienced professionals this role will be both challenging and rewarding.
We’ve built a bespoke, in‑house web application that streamlines our end‑to‑end business lifecycle. As part of our development team, you’ll:
Support and enhance our existing system
Build new functionality on an ongoing basis
Contribute to architectural and technical decisions
Work with leaders who are experts in their fields
Play a key role in integrating custom solutions and third‑party (including AI‑based) tools

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Development Team Leader, you will:
Develop, maintain and enhance in‑house web applications using PHP (Laravel), MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript / jQuery
Write clean, well‑structured and maintainable code aligned to best practices
Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
Design and deliver new features across the full SDLC
Troubleshoot, debug and resolve front‑end and back‑end issues
Integrate and maintain third‑party APIs (e.g. Twilio, Zoho CRM), including AI‑based tools where applicable
Optimise database structures, queries and performance in MySQL
Participate in code reviews and collaborate using Git and Bitbucket
Support cloud‑based infrastructure and deployments on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3)
Ensure application security, scalability and performance
Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions
Drive continuous improvement across development processes and tooling
Work collaboratively in an agile environment
Document system architecture, code and development processes
Proactively identify opportunities to enhance functionality and user experience
About You:
Education & Experience
IT‑related degree or equivalent commercial experience
Minimum 5 years’ professional software development experience
At least 3 years’ hands‑on PHP development experience
Proven experience building and supporting full‑stack web applications in production environments
Technical Skills
Strong PHP development skills (clean, supportable, well‑structured code)
Laravel Framework
Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP)
Strong debugging and problem‑solving capability (server & client side)
API integrations with third‑party platforms
Experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3)
Ability to contribute to or support CI/CD and DevOps environments
Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript / jQuery
MySQL database design and optimisation
Experience working in agile environments
