Brief Summary of Role

The Principal Functional Consultant is tasked with leading large and/or global requirements development sessions to gain an understanding of our customer's current state processes and technology in the CRM space, and supporting implementation work that follows. They handle our most complex and challenging projects, from the customers they work with to technical solution complexity. Responsible for consulting the client on the right solution, development of technical solutions and choice of products which will help meet the business needs of the client. They are expected to have deep expertise in more than one industry vertical/ cloud solution.


  • Build a clear requirement gathering strategy / workshop plan for each customer engagement
  • Lead discovery workshops; facilitate large audience discussions and present solutions
  • Perform rapid analysis and decomposition of complex business information into functional requirements
  • Take ownership of customer processes; analyse and record current state technology and processes
  • Identify and inventory customer process pain points and gaps in best practices
  • Organise and drive process reengineering sessions
  • Create future state processes and requirements
  • Perform business process modelling, user experience modeling and basic technical architecture diagramming
  • Synthesize technical and business information and present implementation needs and options confidently
  • Collaborate with internal team members to advise and present solutions to optimise future processes and solutions
  • Communicate Salesforce’s capabilities and limitations to customers
  • Guide customers and advise on potential solutions for optimising the platform
  • Interpret technical and business strategy roadmaps and apply a detailed technical solution
  • Build and demo prototypes in Salesforce
  • Assist and guide customers during UAT
  • Support and deliver training to specified trainers and end users
  • Provide go-live support for implementations
  • Co-ordinate with Project Managers/Program Managers in delivery decisions
  • Regularly assist in onboarding and mentoring of new hires
  • Proactively seek out sales opportunities, support pre-sales activities and assist in creating estimates
  • Engage in strategy projects and support Business Architects and/or Strategy Consultants with Salesforce and business process best practices
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Functional Practice through engagement with the Centre of Excellence and Discussions groups

Required Skills & Experience

  • German Language skills - Business Level
  • 8+ years' experience as a Functional Consultant / Business Analyst or similar discipline for a mid-to-large sized organization, or direct consulting expertise leading transformational CRM projects
  • 5+ years' experience with configuration and/or custom development across the suite of Salesforce products
  • Experience implementing the Agile project lifecycles and tools (i.e. SCRUM, user stories, etc.)
  • Experience as Business Analyst on at least 2 large Implementations (£/€ 1M+)
  • Deep experience in at least 1 vertical/industry/sector
  • Expert ability to understand customer needs and pain points, facilitate deep discussions, and challenge status quo
  • Expert presentation and communication skills to both create and deliver top-notch presentations and demos
  • Expert meeting and conversation facilitation at all levels of a customer organization, including C-Suite
  • Builds relationships at all levels of the customer organization
  • Experience as a functional leader on large, global projects
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Technical or Business related area; or equivalent combination of similar education and experience
  • Ability to travel as required

  • Any additional Salesforce Certs
