This position is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment in Troy, MI.
The PSI team at ASUX has identified expanding core competency in Functional Safety (FS) as a top priority to maintain leadership in Advanced Safety and User Experience systems. PSI is currently seeking experienced and highly motivated Functional Safety expert to support the Core and Application Functional Safety teams. This position will report to the Executive Director - Product Safety Integrity & Passive Safety Engineering
Provide technical guidance in the area of Functional safety to the delivery teams
Lead the FuSa technical design reviews at the project Functional Safety Board (FSB). Will have the voting right on the approval of any FuSa related WP in the Safety Plan
Support the project/program Functional Safety Steering Committee (FSSC) meetings
Support the development of an independent Audit and Assessment plan for assigned project
Support the independent Audits and Assessments for a the assigned project
Derive excellence by requesting (as needed) additional topic-focused and/or deep dive assessments
Support or lead development FuSa best practices, guides and training per competency.
Lead assessment of new FuSa differentiated technologies applicable to the ASUX domain
Manage technology pilots and develop mature concepts for new FuSa technologies
Work with PSI FuSa Technical Leads to identify Core FuSa Technical Solutions needs
Support the development of Core FuSa Technical Solution for key ADAS Subsystems and components such as Radar System, Vision System, Domain Controller.
Lead or Support (as applicable) all necessary Safety Analysis (FTA, DFA, FfI, etc..) at the System, Software and Hardware level
Provide as a subject matter expert guidance on requested design changes requests, deviation requests and escalation reviews related to the Vision System FuSa implementation
Support management issue tracking and design reviews meetings internally (primarily) and externally
Support FuSa technology awareness at APTIV by attending technical conferences and delivering seminars to the APTIV engineers
Support integrating FuSa into APTIV Product Development Process (PDP)
Travel Expectations: up to 40% to support APTIV Engineering Competency and Customers
Master’s or Ph.D. Degree in EE, Automotive Engineering or Aerospace Engineering - Preferred
7+ years of experience in Functional Safety (ISO 26262) – Required
Worked as a technology leader (Required) and led technology teams (preferred)
Knowledgeable in Classic and Adaptive AUTOSAR – Required
Knowledgeable in FuSa implementation in Classic and Adaptive AUTOSAR – Preferred
Knowledgeable in automotive product development life cycle – Required
Knowledgeable in requirements management tools – Preferred
Demonstrated ability to forge productive relationships, achieve cooperation, and influence priorities
Strong oral/written communication skills and ability to lead group projects and management reviews.
Highly desirable to have competency in automotive active and passive safety systems.
Must be pro-active and not one who waits on what to be told to do.
