Otway Medical Clinic is classified as Health Workforce Distribution Priority Area (DPA).
We have all the usual “must haves” – Great Staff, Great Patient Base, A Supportive Work Environment, A Modern
Purpose Built Establishment and Excellent Equipment-including ultrasound.
Development of special interests is encouraged and teaching interest is welcomed.
We have Registrars in training in our team.
Online bookings with pathology and radiology services on site.
VMO credentialing with our local hospital – Colac Area Health
On site allied health and visiting specialist support include – audiology, psychologist, and podiatrist, HMR
Pharmacist, Health Assessment Nurse, Cardiologists and Endocrinologist.
On call is minimal compared to the “old days” of rural general practice.
Hospital On call is currently 1/13 (supervising HMO’s from Barwon Health and internal on call is 1/7.) Internal on call is merely triage and nursing homes. Hospital on call is well remunerated.
All remuneration is a % of receipts. On call allowances are retained at 100% and future WIP
(Workforce Incentive Scheme) at 100%.
Regular train services – Warrnambool to Melbourne.
Some staff regularly commute by car from Geelong.
