Who we are:
The Department of Finance is a central agency of the Australian Government that plays a key role in assisting the Government to shape and deliver its priorities. We focus on ensuring public expenditure programs are effective, sustainable and reflect best value to government and the Australian community. Our responsibilities are diverse, spanning the full range of public administration functions from the earliest points of developing policy through to implementing and reviewing programs.
Government and Defence Division (GDD) is located within Budget and Financial Reporting. It provides policy and financial advice to Government on range of issues relating to the administration of government and national security. These include strategic defence policy and acquisitions, national intelligence issues, law and justice, international relations and trade, overseas development assistance, border protection and immigration, financial and economic regulation, revenue collection, superannuation and the central operations of the Executive government and the Parliament. GDD has three branches, Defence, Home and Foreign Affairs, and, Central Agencies and Attorney-General’s.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for professionals who are leaders, skilled in the development, analysis and implementation of strategic policy. We are interested in people who have experience in researching policy options, testing and analysing policy implications with stakeholders and drafting advice to ministers. You are able to work independently under very broad direction, utilising your professional judgment to make decisions, factoring in risks and being sensitive to the context.
An experienced leader with the ability to able to identify and lead innovation and continuous improvement in the workplace
About the Temporary Employment Register:
The register allows the GDD to access suitable applicants at short notice for secondments, temporary transfer and non-ongoing placements. Positions available through the register will be for a fixed term (up to three years). We will be looking to fill roles on a full-time or part-time basis, flexible working arrangements will be considered based on operational requirements and the business needs of the division.
Applicants will only be contacted if a vacancy arises suiting their skills and experience. There is no guarantee that an offer of employment will be made while an application remains on the register.
Applications on the register will remain active for twelve (12) months, or until applicants notify us that they are no longer actively seeking employment. Should applicants wish to remain on the register after 12 months, they will need to reapply.
