For our Design Center team, we are currently looking for a

Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer

The ideal candidate will be based Filderstadt-Bonlanden , Germany.

His/her primary responsibility is designing embedded hardware for Vehicle Connectivity Systems.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

  • Design products utilizing engineering principles. Apply best practices, lessons learned and innovative design techniques to achieve a reliable product at a competitive price.  Meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Strive to simplify the design, make it easy to manufacture, mistake proof, attempt to anticipate areas of large variation and attempt to maximize robust design.  Design environmentally friendly where possible.
  • Starting at program award; utilize, (co)generate and update Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, conduct circuit simulations, use other tools as necessary.  Perform tolerance stack up/worst case analyses (linear, RMS or Monte Carlo as required). 
  • Generate professional reports and make changes as necessary based on findings.  Document all development work that supports program development.  
  • Participate in the building and construction of assemblies in prototype stages.  Assist in coordinating builds and shipments to support the team and the customer.
  • Confer with other engineering team and cross functional team members on a frequent basis to generate, check and approve necessary engineering documentation required for material procurement and quality assurance of products designed (drawings - assembly and component, schematics, Bill(s) of Materials, specifications etc.).  
  • Maintain intimate working knowledge of program master timeline and its relation to engineering deliverables.  Follow Product Development Process and generate necessary documentation to support the successful execution of Phase Sign Offs.
  • Develop and/or co-develop engineering test fixtures that sufficiently evaluate products and their respective performance.
  • Initiate and co-operate in cost reduction, VAVE activities.
  • Support production site activities: support failure analysis, design improvements and quality issues driven from customers and the production site.
  • Customer interface, when required.
  • Aid program management activities.
  • Pursue professional development through training, solicit feedback on performance and utilize constructive criticism towards improvement.
  • Maintain proficiency with software packages such as: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and available relevant CAD packages required for the efficient execution of one’s job function (i.e. Cadence, Altium Designer, Mathcad etc.).
  • Development of intellectual property and completion of patent applications.
  • Travel as-required.

Here is some of what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) or similar degree.
  • Minimum 5 of experience with electronics circuit design, preferably in automotive environment.
  • Experience in designing Digital and Analog/Mixed signal circuits with safety MCUs, and multicore-SOC’s (NXP, Infineon, ST Microelectronics), power management ICs, transceivers.
  • Experience with automotive communication buses: CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, Base-T1, BroadR-Reach.
  • Experience working with PCIe, USB2.0/3.0, SGMII, RGMII, MIPI, SPI, I2C and UART.
  • Experience with analyzing and resolving signal and power integrity related hardware issues.
  • Experience with wireless communication WIFI/BT/BLE integration.
  • Familiar with cellular 4G/5G and V2X/C-V2X technologies.
  • Familiar with automotive reliability requirements, and component selection for automotive applications.
  • Knowledge of automotive Functional Safety requirements (ISO26262).

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

  • Experience using lab measurement instruments: network analyzers, signal analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators.
  • Ability to generate tests cases to validate product requirements
  • Experience designing and analyzing test procedures to minimize measurement error
  • Root-cause analysis experience, particularly with automotive controllers
  • Experience with an issue-tracking software platform such as JIRA and engineering release tools.
  • Experience in designing RF circuits and antennas.
