Description

The I.T. Manager has responsibility for managing the I.T. services and requirements of this Financial Services business.  There are three areas of responsibility in the team:  Management Information/Data, Software Development and I.T. Infrastructure 

Key Responsibilites

  • Ensure security standards are met in line with the Security Strategy as defined by the Business.  
  • Manage secure access for all systems and ensure security barriers are not breached.  
  • Provide KPI metrics on Cyber Security and Data management (GDPR) where required. 
  •  Provide support to the various data owners with regards to data security (access), classification and data retention.  
  • Assist each department with their various IT requirements, including software requirements, reporting, hardware, desktops.  Will require hands on involvement. 
  • Manage the planning and implementation of the company’s IT requirements.  Devise creative approaches and ideas to improve existing processes. 
  • In conjunction with other senior I.T. personnel, assist in the management and implementation of IT projects.  Work with each Business Manager to identify the business specifications for their areas and implement all technical requirements. 
  •  Manage and deal with outsourced third parties in maintaining the IT support functions. 
  • Oversee any technical problems and give input into problem solving where required. 
  • Manage the ongoing design, development, and review of internal platforms 
  • Work with the managers and analysts to ensure that the business requirements are clearly defined and can be met through system development.
  • Manage the reporting of existing metrics for the business.  Liaise with the business units to define the reporting requirements for the business.  Provide recommendations on who should deliver the data. Where required source and provide data as required. 
  • Review the company’s ongoing ability to move to more web-based solutions. 
  • Manage and drive individual and team performance against agreed targets.  Manage the task distribution and support the Team in managing heavy workloads.  Manage the performance of any IT contractors.  
  • Develop strategies, policies and procedures to support the effective running of the I.T. Department. §   Produce reports/information as required for senior management 
  • Ensure Team members have up-to-date knowledge of all relevant I.T. policies and procedures.  Ensure that levels of skills and competence are in place and are maintained within the Team. 
  • Plan and forecast resourcing needs.  Work closely with the HR Manager in the recruitment process as well as undertaking all recruitment interviews. 
  • Ensure all Team Members receive appropriate new joiner induction, ongoing one-to-one coaching and regular performance feedback.  Ensure any performance issues are escalated to the HR Manager as appropriate.   

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


·         Minimum 10 year’s experience in a similar I.T. Management role.  Experience in Financial Services, specifically lending and regulatory environment relating to same, is preferred.


·         Previous I.T. Management roles must show evidence of strong team management.


·         Experience in IT Operations including Network Management, Peripherals (printers, scanners), Server Infrastructure (VMware – Linux – Windows), Cloud based infrastructure ((MS Azure, office 365), Phone Systems. Knowledge of scripting tools (Batch files, PowerShell, VBA, VBScript).  Hands on knowledge of Active Directory and group policy management.


·         Familiar with Data Management including Database Administration (SQL Server), Azure Data Solutions, Data Manipulation Tools (Excel, PowerShell, python)


·         Experience in Security covering Network File Access Security, GDPR, PCI, Cyber Security, Security Frameworks (CSF, TIBER) and Standards (ISO, NIST)


·         Experience in development management.  Exposure to Microsoft based development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum, Cloud based application development and testing frameworks.


·         Good knowledge of various BI tools including Excel, PowerBI and SSRS.


·         Ability to manage very heavy and diverse workload is essential.


·         Ability to work cross-functionally within the organisation and to manage relationships with each department, business users and Senior Management Team.


·         Competent in project involvement.


·         Self motivated.


·         Excellent people management skills, specifically:


o    ability to drive and lead a team.


o    ability to drive behaviour.


o    ability to motivate people to work under pressure and within deadlines.


o    Ability to manage and organise the workload of employees.
