Primary Responsibilities

Acts as business partner for assigned business segment(s), providing support to senior management, by

  • Conducting monthly meetings and working closely with management to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
  • Providing guidance and interpretation on company policies
  • Providing guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, etc.
  • Developing and maintaining employee engagement and development programs and succession plans
  • Managing to the business segment talent goals
  • Analyzing key metrics against benchmark and making recommendations

Manages HR operations for assigned business segment(s) by:

  • Participating in talent acquisition strategy, recruitment and onboarding activities
  • Developing and maintaining job descriptions
  • Creating and maintaining personnel documentation according to company policies and standards
  • Coordinating all employee events
  • Processing all exit activity including conducting exit interview and preparing separation notices and related documentation
  • Managing leave of absence activity and documentation

Promote and support performance management efforts by

  • Providing day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Creating and launching annual performance evaluation process; reviewing and providing feedback to management on performance evaluations to ensure effectiveness, compliance and internal equity
  • Guiding managers through the performance improvement plan process and assisting with the development of staff
  • Responding to employee questions, concerns
  • Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues; conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed

Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by

  • Keeping human resources information confidential
  • Building and fostering effective working relationships with employees and managers to promote a high level of employee engagement

Complies with Federal, State and Local Requirements by

  • Following policies and procedures
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance

Ensures compliance with internal and external requirements by

  • Maintaining organizational charts
  • Updating and providing reports as requested on turnover, recruiting, other personnel data, etc.

Performs supervisory functions to Human Resources Associate by:

  • Communicating job expectations
  • Planning, monitoring and appraising job results
  • Coaching, counseling and disciplining staff
  • Initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures
  • Approving direct reports time sheets, requests for time off and/or overtime
  • Performing timely performance evaluations of direct reports
  • Coordinating and conducting new hire interviews; facilitating hiring decision
  • Training new hires on company processes and responsibilities

Maintains Quality Service and Departmental Standards by

  • Reading, understanding and adhering to organizational Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP”)
  • Assisting in establishing and enforcing departmental standards

Secondary Responsibilities

Contributes to team effort by

  • Service as project manager on assigned HR initiatives
  • Cross-training and serving as back up to other HR functions
  • Exploring new opportunities to add value to organization and departmental processes
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Works closely with other team members to ensure consistency

Maintains Technical Knowledge by

  • Attending and participating in applicable company-sponsored training
  • Attending and participating in applicable continuing education in Human Resources
  • Reviewing publications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • SPHR/PHR certification preferred


  • 10+ years in Human Resources within a service organization
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws required
  • Experience in the areas of training and development and/or recruiting preferred
  • Experience working with computer software including Word, Excel and Access required

Travel: 0-5%
