Expected annual salary package range for this role is $80,000 to $95,000.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide Hydraulic system design and layout utilizing BIM/Revit, including coordination with all disciplines
  • Prepare engineering calculations, equipment sizing, equipment selection and specifications
  • Develop plumbing project specifications (including pipe materials, valves, equipment, fixtures, etc.)
  • Hydraulic system design and drawing preparation under the direction of the Team Leader, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of project types and sizes
  • Work closely with the internal design team as well as external clients and consultants including owners, builders, developers, program managers, contractors, architects, vendors, etc.
  • May assist Team Leader or senior technical staff in the on-going determination of project scheduling requirements, resource requirements, and project budgets
  • Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports
  • Progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team
  • Assist the Team Leader or senior technical staff in processing RFI’s, Submittals, Change Orders, Bulletins, etc.
  • Must take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you
  • Fire Protection and Hydraulic layout and drafting with minimal supervision
  • Ensure Integral BIM/Revit Standards are being followed
  • Maintain BIM/Revit design files
  • Coordinate Hydraulic requirements with other disciplines involved in the project design team (i.e. Architects, Structural Consultants, Electrical Consultants, etc.). Assistance will be provided by senior staff.
  • Coordinate service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies
  • Assist in training junior staff and reviewing their work
  • Write various reports as directed by senior staff
  • Maintain client relations
  • Knowledge of water efficiency strategies and systems (rainwater catchment, greywater systems, etc.)
  • Develop performance specifications for fire suppression systems (preliminary selection of fire pumps, determine hazard classification of various spaces using NFPA, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years BIM/Revit experience coupled with 5 years design experience in Hydraulic Engineering and preparing Fire Protection performance specification documentation
  • BS Architectural Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Hydraulic Engineering or equivalent degree is an asset but will consider those without degrees
  • Able to design various Hydraulic system types under the guidance of the Team Leader and other senior technical staff
  • Able to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings with minimal supervision
  • Able to apply prescriptive requirements of Hydraulic, building and sprinkler codes (i.e. NFPA, CPC, CBC, etc.) with minimal supervision
  • Able to perform accurate detailed site surveys
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both inside and outside the office.  Able to communicate ideas effectively in meetings with architects and consultants
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform effectively in the face of shifting projects and deadlines
  • High level of proficiency, acute attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards. self-motivated, self-directed, and driven
  • Professional Engineer (PE), EIT and/or CPD designations are highly preferred
  • LEED Accredited Professional designation is an asset

DESIRED

  • Green Star Accredited Professional or Green Star Associate
  • Experience with sustainable design
  • Environmentally minded with an understanding of energy and climate change issues
