Information Security Consultant

Zurich IT Services is looking for an Information Security Consultant to manage information security, IT and compliance risks to support Zurich's business goals.

Our Information Security Consultants manage information security, IT and compliance risks to support Zurich's business goals. We are also charged with being cyber and IT security ambassadors across our organisation. Reporting to our Commercial Insurance Information Security Officer, you will provide security subject matter expert support to our various projects and initiatives. This includes early-stage consideration of security ('security by design'). You will also manage multiple demands for information security and risk-based information within the company. You will be provided with guidance and training to facilitate your development within this role.


  • Provide consultancy on effective IT security risk mitigation and controls implementation
  • Assist with complex projects to identify business and technical security requirements, design security controls and validate controls' effectiveness
  • Apply and support IT security, risk and compliance technologies
  • Undertakes control assurance for IT service providers
  • Maintain relevant oversight document (including (for example) risk registers)
  • Provide regional support and coordination for audit and other assurance processes
  • Compile regional management information reports on a regular basis
  • Operate IT security and risk frameworks that serve as a basis for regulatory compliance, internal control processes and management of IT Security and IT risk
  • Initiate and maintain IT risk and security management procedures
  • Establish and execute on awareness programs
  • Ensure compliance with IT-related policies and regulatory requirements; develop plan to remediate compliance gaps
  • Facilitate, and take part in, regular global IT risk and security assessment initiatives
  • Support security event monitoring and incident response processes

Your Skills and Experience

As an Information Security Consultant your skills and qualifications will include:

  • Experience (preferably within large enterprises) of providing consultancy support to projects or business team, or of operating within an associated field such as IT, information security, risk and/or compliance
  • Relevant degree or diploma programme of study

  • Good understanding of:

  • IT security and risk management

  • control frameworks such as ISO 27000 series and NIST's Cybersecurity Framework

  • security requirements for cloud environments (predominantly PaaS and SaaS)

  • 'security by design' principles and DevSecOps

  • operational IT and infrastructure

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Good listening and questioning skills (being able to take part in meetings and input effectively with advice)

  • Proven ability to succeed in collaborative work environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Security accreditations (such as CISA, CISM, CISSP or CCSK) would be an advantage

  • Experience with O365, Azure and   AWS would be an advantage

This role requires occasional travel (within Europe typically).

Additional Information

Primary work location is Blackrock, Dublin . Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
