Job Description

Leidos Australia hosts a unique a high profile collaboration space, which provides our partners and clients access to multi-networked, flexible environments. This is a one in 3 facility in Australia and we call it Leidos Connect. It plays a key role in enabling our Research and Development efforts, showcasing capabilities in ICT, Big Data, CSISR, Geospatial and Cyber. The facility’s purpose is to design, evaluate and propose new innovative solutions utilising real technology and to also be used as a venue for agile workshops, Leidos workshops, Leidos internal and customer demonstrations.

As a truly collaborative and innovative environment, Leidos, its partners and customers, use and apply this facility to achieve superior solutions and outcomes to complex challenges.

In a typical week, you will be performing the following functions as individual assignments or as part of a team:

  • With direction from more senior technical specialists, carry out data center operations assignments requiring familiarity and expertise with a broad field of engineering and technical knowledge;
  • Assist with functional analysis to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications;
  • Conduct systems data center operations activities for designated work packages and projects;
  • Contributes to the completion of specific tasks in support of programs and projects;
  • Adhere to Requirement Management and Configuration Management practices as required for day to day administration of the Infrastructure environments
  • Work within the boundaries of company policies and procedures ​​​​

About you and what you will bring:

You will be a self –starter that loves technology! You pick things up quickly and are keen to impart this information to your colleagues and customers. You will ensure the operation of the environment and provide the technical support to the business for customer and solution proposals. This role has both an internal and external focus and requires an exceptional technical people person who is able support a high performing team and deliver the Leidos Connect facility’s objectives. You will have good communication skills, technical and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work autonomously as well as contribute as a valued team member including:

  • Exposure to relevant technologies;
  • Intermediate ability to resolve complex technical issues of a more complex nature;
  • Initiative in developing and improving systems and procedures;
  • Structured problem solving skills;
  • Intermediate level analytical skills with attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels, and
  • Ability to engage with key stakeholders at all levels.

Core Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of Virtualisation technologies (VMware or Hyper-V or equivalent);
  • Knowledge of SAN technologies (NetApp, EMC or equivalent);
  • Knowledge or Windows Server and Active Directory support and administration;
  • Knowledge of videoconferencing support and administration;
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Technologies (Azure or AWS);
  • Familiarity with networking infrastructure (Cisco or Juniper networking fundamentals or equivalent);
  • Familiarity with IP telephony, Unity, Exchange and Skype;
  • Familiarity with LINUX Server operating System (desirable but not essential), and
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialised training commensurate with assignment.
  • A qualification or relevant experience in one area of Infrastructure technology, such as in operating systems, storage, networking, virtualization or cloud technologies.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will be required to be Australian Citizens and be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
