Support the Lead in contributing technical advice and analysis in the development, design, new or existing ships, machinery and potential issues, barriers or gaps related to production of the owned discipline and provide input on production approach, sequence and budget implications. Push forward vessel improvements.
Perform Plan and Drawing reviews of all related design and working drawings, prepare and submit Plan Comments Form to Head Office for forwarding to Builder’s design department.
Review Builder’s replies and revisions to drawings and close out comments if found satisfactory.
Attend ITP / FAT requests from Builders and/or makers to ensure tests performed are fit for their proper functioning and troubleshoot problems in manufacturing phase.
Assist in resolving plans, coordination, schedules, reports, inspection and supervision of the work and activities of builder and maker’s technicians and machinery & electrical inspectors engaged in the building of the vessels to ensure that the newbuilding specification requirements are met during construction.
Prepares fabrication and assembly drawings using relevant soft wares.
Ensures the marine vessel fleet is built in compliance with all relevant laws, Owner’s requirements, regulations and standards as well as Classification Society rules.
Facilitate and establish effective communication with suppliers, agencies, vendors/contractors and cross functional teams to ensure smooth design integration, task quality and completion.
Support internal and external stakeholders during implementation, production and aftersales on technical aspects and questions.
Diagnose bottlenecks in processes, installations and equipment, develop solutions for continuous improvement and ensure and monitor implementation after approval.
Investigate, analyse, assess and resolve Owner’s requirements or inquiries related to products and processes (materials, process, quality, product specifications) and perform initial opportunity and risk assessments.
Bachelor's degree in ocean engineering, marine engineering, or mechanical engineering or related field preferred
Minimum 8 or more years of experience in the Vessel building industry; in ship machinery design principles and practices, marine or ocean engineering
Experience working with ship system performance assessment and prediction methods
Subject Matter Expert of ship systems, machinery, analyses, and piping requirements.
Has the ability to lead integration of Mechanical and Electrical Design requirements and mechanical projects.
Experience with construction of vessels in foreign shipyards;
