Regular Full-time, Pay Grade 38

Under supervision, the employee in this position constructs, installs, maintains, and repairs high voltage overhead and underground power lines and support facilities. This position oversees and instructs Line Installers I, Line Installers II and Sr Line Installers I in the performance of their duties and in the use of tools and materials. This position includes assisting in repairing equipment to maintain proper working order and maintaining, operating and installing high voltage electrical systems and related components. This position installs, inspects, and maintains sports facility lighting and outdoor lighting for safety. Some secondary electrical work is also included. Applicant should have the ability to read blueprints, order material for projects, and provide support for special events, oversee contractors working on campus and fill in for the Foreman in his absence. Applicant must be available to work overtime as needed to support repairs or construction during emergency or scheduled outages.  2 Positions Available  

Qualifications

  Minimum/Required Qualifications:

Valid Tennessee Driver’s License and required to obtain a Class B license.
High School Education

A minimum of (5) five years’ experience as a journeyman in high voltage or electrical distribution construction and maintenance techniques. Experience with proper safety requirements and procedures is a must. Specialized experience with fifteen kilovolt underground systems. Experience working in a team atmosphere. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis. 

Applicant should have the ability to climb poles and perform other strenuous work activities. Applicant should have knowledge of safe work practices, be in good physical health, maintain a positive attitude, have a passion for the work and interact well with others. Applicant should have the ability to work in confined spaces, under adverse conditions, and in high places. The ability to perform hard physical work for long periods; to lift, pull, and push heavy loads. 

CPR training and other safety skills as required by OSHA. Applicant must be reliable in attendance and able to work long hours on a scheduled or unscheduled basis.
