The JSU Online Department at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Instructional Designer position. The Instructional Designer will work closely with the Assistant Director of JSU Online to design and support online courses.

Minimum Required Education

Masters Degree strongly preferred; Bachelors degree required in instructional design, educational technology, curriculum design, or a related field.

Minimum Required Experience

• Experience in instructional design is preferred.

• Three to five (3-5) years of instructional design and development experience preferably in the field of education including web-based course development, course design, evaluation skills, and other key areas.

• Experience in the development of course design standards and process documentation of training materials that support the growth of online and blended learning.

• High level of comfort with instructional technology and experience training staff for these development tools.

• Previous exposure with content management systems; preferably Canvas.

• Ability to communicate effectively in visual, oral, and written form.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an ongoing relationship with faculty and department staff to assist in course development, course re-design, course delivery methods, and implementation.

• Develop and support interactive, media-rich courses and content for distance learning programs.

• Produce all course materials within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Instructional materials must be ADA compliant.

• Other duties as assigned.
