Department profile

Wealth Managements Core Technology Solution group provides horizontal services to all Wealth management Development Teams. Our mission is to provide stable and scalable infrastructure and technology solutions for entire Wealth Management. We serve as a centralized interface through which Wealth Management teams can obtain infrastructure solutions and project support by working closely with application owners throughout the SDLC process to ensure that established products/services are leveraged and new requirements are fulfilled.

Position Overview:

The Platform management team is part of the Wealth Management Organization at Morgan Stanley. The team is responsible for managing and overseeing application as well as platform level changes made to the various platforms at Morgan Stanley under Wealth Management. This position is for a mid to senior level platform engineer who will be responsible for overseeing variety of areas from data platforms to cloud (public and private) to web/middleware. The right candidate would have the eagerness to work in multiple platforms along with identifying and working on automations/process improvements. The Platform management team is often the first responder for Infra Outages. We are seeking a person who is well spoken and versed in many technologies and can conduct and manage troubleshooting calls.

The right candidate has

  • Deploying complex changes which requires advanced technical knowledge.

  • Application Infrastructure Management.

  • Platform Infrastructure Management.

  • Prior experience with platforms like Azure, OpenShift, Kafka, Hadoop, TeraData, Solr, Apigee, Tomcat, IIS among others

  • Work on hygiene activities, upgrades, rollout at scale, onboarding, automation and troubleshooting for all platforms in coordination with Engineering Team.

  • Proactively identify problems and work towards ultimate resolution.

  • Work on automating complex tasks with different tools/scripts.

  • Provide on-call support as needed to support major activities / deployments.

  • Prepare and share weekly deployment metrics to management.

Required Experience : 3 to 6 yrs

Skills :

Primary Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of multiple platforms like Kafka, Hadoop, TeraData, Solr, Apigee, Tomcat, IIS, BPM.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based architecture, technologies and platforms like Azure, OpenShift, Cloudify.

  • Programming and scripting of operational administration tasks in Perl, PowerShell, Shell, Python.

  • Strong development skills in .NET and Angular JS.

  • Good operational level knowledge of both Windows and Linux Server Platforms.

  • Applicant must understand TCP/IP protocols, particularly TCP and IP themselves, as well as HTTP and DNS.

  • Good knowledge of Certificate Setup and Administration.

  • Analyzing and Troubleshooting skills relevant to debug issues and provide tactical and strategic solutions around the same.

Good to have Skills:

  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts and IAC based automation concepts are preferred.

  • Familiarity with CICD tools such as Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins should be well understood.

  • Familiarity with log analytics tools like splunk
