ASIC Design Engineer Job Description

AMD (NYSE: AMD), a semiconductor design innovator who pioneers technology that frees people to push the limits of what is possible., is seeking an experienced individual to fill an key leadership role in our Graphics Processor IP development team.  Differentiation and strength in graphics is vital to AMD’s product strategy and is, accelerated by further investment in our IP, engineering talent and roadmap.  You would help us to advance our leadership in graphics and compute processing.

You would be responsible for all aspects of design on next generation graphics processors.

Position Responsibilities:

+ Working with architects and leads to understand features to be implemented and verified.

+ Design documentation creation

+ Design creation using Verilog/System Verilog to optimize performance, area, and power.

+ Initial verification and debugging test failures.

+ Specifying cover points, reviewing functional and code coverage results and assisting to increase coverage.

+ Providing assistance to resolve synthesis and timing analysis issues.

+ You might also be responsible for new architecture discussion and RTL implementation

Position Requirements

+ Must have a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering

+ Must have 6 years of experience in RTL level ASIC design, including use of a source control system and be able to debug RTL code using simulation tools

+ Must be expert in Verilog, System Verilog and proficient in PSL, SVA, verification, timing analysis and optimization.  Be able to work in Linux and Windows environments.

+ Low power design techniques and tool scripting (e.g. Perl) is a plus.

+ Solid knowledge of computer architecture and circuit issues/analysis is a bonus, though a basic working knowledge of these areas is essential.

+ Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and good coding skills and style required.

+ Must have good English hearing, speaking, reading, and writing capabilities.

+ Must have good teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Preferred
+ MS or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering

+ Graphics pipeline experience.

+ System Verilog proficiency.
