Current Opportunity

BDO Forensic has an opportunity in Perth for the right candidate to join their growing forensic team role.

As a Senior Forensic IT Analyst in the Forensic team, you will:

  • Work with leading global organisations, regulators and law firms, as well as range of specialist departments within BDO, to formulate and document requirements for identifying, investigating and preparing court ready documents
  • Scope and carry out day-to-day management of F tech engagements, including liaising with clients, assessing and analysing data and documentation.
  • Have the ability to image digital devices on and off site and utilize software such as Intella, X ways, IEF, Relativity, Celebrite and Microsoft applications. Training provided
  • Draft clear and concise reports that meet the clients’ needs and expectations within agreed timeframes, including delivering insights in respect of identified control breakdowns, inefficiencies and optimization of practices and system configuration
  • Utilise technology driven solutions in assisting the team and clients proactively mitigate and detect fraud, corruption and other forms of serious non-compliance (e.g. through the use of forensic software application )
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and fraud and corruption awareness training materials to clients on engagements
  • Balance multiple engagements and work streams, working closely with Forensic team members including investigators and accountants
  • Provide on the job training and mentoring to junior staff, and contribute to team networking, media publications

To be successful you will require:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a professional services, or an in-house IT team
  • Forensic and Cyber Security qualifications
    Capacity and willingness to perform engagements in both region and interstate locations from time to time
  • Evidence holding procedures – chain of custody
  • Experience with a wide range of operating systems including Windows, Mac OSX, Android and virtual environments
  • Microsoft Suite – Advanced Excel skills required. VBA scripting to develop excel macros a plus.
  • Business development skills to identify how to help clients solve some of their most complex and difficult problems associated with fraud, corruption and other serious misconduct.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle and analyse complex information (financial /accounting insight is favourable)
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to review and articulate detailed findings in both written and oral presentations for a variety of audiences
  • Excellent time management, organization and digital working skills
  • Proven leadership, people and stakeholder management capabilities, including the ability to manage a team of junior staff and manage multiple engagements concurrently
  • A good understanding of key business processes and associated control environments, such as procurement, finance and associated information technology systems
  • Understanding process and data flows across multiple, often disparate systems & databases and the ability to create process flow maps and explain them to key stakeholders
  • Degree holder with an accounting or similarly relevant background, ideally with an Information Technology or professional accounting part qualification
  • Degree holder with an Analytics, MIS, Statistics, Computing, Accounting or similarly relevant background
  • Intella, X ways, IEF, Relativity, Celebrite and Microsoft applications
    SQL – Strong MS SQL / Teradata SQL / Oracle MySql desireable
  • Having worked in an open plan office desirable with sole use of a forensic computer laboratory
