We're looking for a developer to help create the next generation repository - deploying a cloud-based architecture using Java, React and other technologies. The existing Java platform offers great flexibility and stability - with Edalex’s hosting availability exceeding 99.992% since inception. We are extending the platform using cloud models to enable further rapid innovation.
We help our long-term university, TAFE, department of education and commercial clients across the Asia Pacific region effectively manage, share and deliver content to more than 1 million academics and students across the region.
We’re looking for the right person to join our growing development team. That person has proven development experience in the workplace, using Java and other leading technologies. Key responsibilities:
Software development
Maintenance of existing Java-based platform
Collaborating closely with other dev team members
Working effectively with Product Management, Hosting, Client Support and other colleagues
Report to the Lead Developer
Participate in company events and celebrate success!
Core skills:
3-5+ years of workplace experience with web software development
3-5+ years of workplace experience writing Java
Expertise with web based technologies including HTML5, Javascript and REST
Expertise with JVM based enterprise frameworks including Object Relational Mapping (e.g. Hibernate) and Dependency Injection (e.g. Guice, Dagger or Spring)
Experience with JVM build tools (one of Maven, SBT or Gradle)
Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g. jUnit, ScalaCheck, Spock, Selenium, Geb, etc.)
Experience with Continuous Integration and build/CI servers
Experience with agile development
Must reside in Tasmania with right to work in Australia
Ideal skills:
5+ years of workplace full-stack software development experience
Experience with one or more of Scala, Groovy, Typescript, Purescript, React
Experience with web UI frameworks (particularly for Material Design such as Material-UI)
Experience developing REST endpoints
Experience deploying cloud solutions
Willingness to get up and dance (at least figuratively): joining in team activities, volunteering (Edalex has joined the 1% Pledge) and annual trips.
