Institutional Securities Technology division of Technology develops enterprise systems for Morgan Stanley's Institutional Securities Group business spanning investment banking/capital markets, research, Institutional trading across all markets and all asset classes including complex derivatives, prime brokerage, fund services and other funding/finance businesses.
IST FID Technology FIDCOM
Fixed Income Derivatives & Commodities (FIDCOM) Technology Team develops trading and risk technology solutions for Fixed Income Derivatives, Corporate Bond products, Commodities, Physical Commodities and OTC / Listed Derivatives and supports the various functions including Trade Capture, pricing, risk measurement, P&L Attribution, Pre-Settlement and Operational Metrics reporting for products. We work closely with Sales & Trading and Quantitative Strategists team to develop next generation risk and trading systems to achieve their business goals.
The Macro Risk Systems group within FIDCOM develops technology solutions for front office risk management and supports all products covered by global Rates, FX and EM trading. Responsible for pre-trade pricing, marking, overnight and intra-day risk, interactive scenarios and P&L attribution functions for structured and flow Macro products.
OTC Derivatives Lifecycle Department provides trading platforms for trade capture, lifecycle management and product STP across Rates, Credit and FX OTC products including exotics. STP flows include e-trading, client and dealer clearing, sales workflows, broker allegations, confirmations, regulatory reporting, settlements, intraday and EOD risk.
Credit Rating & Securities Risk System within FIDCOM is responsible for front office trading technology solutions of global Credit Products business, and risk systems of Cash OTC and Listed Securities, which includes Pricing, Marking, Risk, P&L Attribution, Interactive Scenarios and Market Making of Credit products such as Single name, Indexes, Options and Structured Credit Derivatives, Corporate Bonds and Corporate Loans. Technology solutions for other Cash Products, such as Government and Agency Bonds, Listed Futures, TRS and Options include Pre-Trade Pricing, Interactive Scenarios, EOD Risk and P&L attribution.
Commodities Technology Department is responsible for the global Commodities business front office trading and risk systems, which includes Physical Commodities and OTC/Listed Derivatives across Oil, Gas, Power, Metals & Investor Products. Systems functionality provided for Pre-Trade Pricing and RFQ, Trade Capture & Lifecycle, Inventory Management, Forward/Volatility/Correlation Marking, Front Office PL/Risk, Gas & Power Physical Scheduling. Transaction & Risk data feed a wide range of Firm-wide systems, including Market Risk, Credit/CVA, Regulatory reporting, Settlement, & Confirmation.
Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA) Technology Department provides comprehensive valuation, risk, P&L, pricing and scenario analysis for XVA Trading. In addition, provides potential exposure calculations for Credit Department and expected cash flows calculations for Treasury. Applications and analytical engines are built on an integrated platform called CVA Trader, which calculates XVA metrics (CVA, FVA, CDTVA and LVA), PE (potential exposure), as well as expected cash flows used for CFP & LCR calculations.
RICE Model, APIs and Adoption Department owns the conceptual model of RICE and its high-level APIs to be used by Strategists and other programmatic use cases. The group includes specialists embedded with Strats focusing on adoption of the platform, as well as the capacity to execute on proof-of-concepts for widening and deepening platform adoption. A major focus of the group is to help start the next phase of RICE adoption to the remaining FID businesses through partnering on design, PoC?s, working with Strats on analytics integration, and by training developers in the Vertical teams.
FID Risk Infrastructure Department develops and maintains the Optimus runtime underlying the RICE platform. The main remit is to improve the platform?s capabilities and to scale it up to accommodate the growing business scope alongside its performance and availability. Functional areas included are DAL, Graph, Distribution, Distributed Risk Store, Optimus UI, Grid and Stratosphere.
The technology team in India is well established and actively contributes to all critical business and engineering projects. The team is further growing in size and responsibilities. The teams work in agile model and all developers interact with business stakeholders to participate in solution design and implementation.
FIDCOM department is looking for core technologists for multiple development roles that involve working mainly with Java/Scala as the primary language. Following are the roles we are hiring for:
Optimus Core Developer
Optimus is a global project to develop a new, cutting edge platform for applications across all FIDCOM areas in the firm. It covers several technologies including object stores, bitemporal data representation, graph processing, query languages and UI. We are looking for core developers with inclination towards providing generic solutions for the users of the platform.
Macro Risk Systems Developer
o Work on global strategic projects for derivatives trading, market data, pricing and risk calculation, scenario analysis, and P&L attribution.
o Provide technical solutions for Asia trading desks located in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo
o Enable the growing local business for macro and credit sales & trading in Mumbai
Trade Lifecycle Management (TLC) Developer
o Interface with front office trading desks and strategists to gather requirements and to synthesize technology solutions to meet business objectives
o Software design and development in compliance with software development life cycle standards
o Project planning, execution and delivery into production environment
Credit Development Engineer
Credit team is looking for a technical, hands-on DevOps Engineer who will be responsible for providing a reliable, robust and fast Continuous Integration and Delivery system. Candidate will be required to identify open source tools or build customized solutions to help maintain and improve build, test and configuration automation covering entire software lifecycle across large enterprise level codebase comprising of C++, java, and scale.
CVA Tech is looking for hands-on java/scala developer to enhance mission critical Credit Risk data infrastructure, as well as contribute to a strategic rewrite of the platform. This individual will work with users to understand business requirements, derivative products, and existing data flows in order to add required functionality. This role requires an individual who is experienced in large, batch-oriented systems. The current system is a large, complex system with numerous strategic clients and a very active user base. This person must be adept at managing relationships and prioritizing requests across a diverse set of clients. Key technologies are java, DB2, python, perl, shell scripting, and Autosys. The system processes OTC derivatives data, listed derivatives, futures, options, repos, stock loan, and other instruments which carry counterparty risk. Prior experience with financial data will be a big plus.
Solid academic record with bachelor's level or above in a computational field like Computer Science, Mathematics, Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
3+ years's experience in Core Java/Scala with good understanding of multithreading and hands-on proficiency
Good understanding of core computer science concepts and strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Take initiative to propose ideas and air concerns, to take technical ownership to drive the areas they work on
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience speaking to technical and business colleagues and working globally
