Senior Java Software Engineer

Seeking a skilled Senior Java Software Engineer to join our Federal Government Client.

Initial 12-month contract with extension.

Sydney based.

Hybrid work flexibility: 2-3 days on-site / 2 days WFH.

Baseline Security Clearance or higher is mandatory.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering reliable, scalable systems while proactively managing technical risks, system performance, and platform availability.

This role requires Australian citizenship.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering high-quality pipeline and API code aligned to approved designs and industry best practice implementations.
• Technical release coordination within the team for weekly releases and to all clients for cut-over releases.
• Proactive management of potential API outages to internal and external clients.
• Performing other tasks as required by the team to meet business objectives.

Required Skills

• 5-8+ years of strong experience as a Senior Java Developer/Software Engineer with expertise in SQL and NoSQL.
• Experience working with Data Platforms and Big Data technologies, including Apache Spark, Kafka, and Elasticsearch.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes orchestration and containerised environments.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, including hands-on use of Jenkins.
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Government or Federal experience is plus.
