For our region Central Europe (CE), we are looking for a Junior Tax Counsel. Reporting directly to the Regional Tax Manager for the Region Central Europe (CE), the role will be responsible for a variety of tax-related topics.

Region CE contains all 6 Business Areas and approx. 1,200 employees operating across Germany & Austria.

You will provide tax support and will work in direct contact with our GSS-Finance-colleagues in the Regional Center for Germany and Austria in Hamburg and the GSS-Global Center in Gdynia as well as colleagues from other business areas in relation to tax-related topics such as:

Areas of responsibilities / Key tasks:

  • Prepare transfer pricing documentation in collaboration with external advisor
  • Review (cross-border) proposals and contracts on their tax consequences (“Project Tax Screenings”)
  • Prepare answers to tax auditor requests
  • Support CIT/TT-compliance tasks such as support for preparation of annual corporate income tax returns and trade tax returns, Tax reporting for IFRS and German GAAP Accounting
  • Support analysis of tax implications of restructuring and M&A transactions
  • Support the tax team in other tax-related issues

Position Qualifications

  • Tax Generalist who already is well-acquainted or is highly motivated to become acquainted with a variety of very interesting tax-related topics
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Taxation or Business Economics (“BWL”) or qualified tax clerk (“Steuerfachangestellter, “Steuerfachwirt” or “Diplom-Finanzwirt”) with the goal of taking the German Tax Advisor exam or already fully qualified German Tax Advisor (Steuerberater/in), candidates with other Tax degrees and relevant working experience will also be considered
  • Solid knowledge of German Tax Regulations
  • 1-3 years of work experience in a tax department of an international company (prior Big 4 experience will be advantageous) or other tax-related work experience
  • Professional proficiency in both German and English and good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and good team spirit


  • Knowledge of international tax regulations, experience with Transfer Pricing Documentation, project tax screenings and IFRS-Tax-Reporting
  • Experience with analysis of tax implications for restructuring and M&A transactions
  • Experience with Datev, Oracle Finance and SAP
  • Experience with industries such as Maritime, Energy Systems, Business assurance and/or Digital Solutions or technical services in general
