This is a full time position based in the Ghent, reporting to the Technology Group Leader Specialty Plastics.

Responsibilities:

  • The Plastic Processing Lab Technician is responsible for carrying out work in the laboratory in accordance with the Company business objectives and policies.
  • This involves hands-on injection moulding as well as sampling and analytical testing of thermoplastics for Application Development and Customer Service.
  • Direct interaction with customers, distributers and Ghent University as well as limited travel will be required.
  • Attending safety meetings / activities, carrying out safety inspections, complying and promoting the Eastman safety culture.
  • Maintaining a clean work area in line with Eastman’s housekeeping.

Qualifications / requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Polymer Processing or another suitable technical qualification
  • A customer service orientated, flexible team player who can work independently
  • Experience in Injection Moulding is prefered, further plastic processing understanding (blow moulding, extrusion, 3D printing) is advantageous
  • Testing Lab experience is prefered, preferably for thermoplastics
  • A fluency in English (written and spoken) combined with good communication skills is necessary, further language skills are appreciated,
  • Capability to capture scientific test results as well as customer feedback in form of Technical reports is required
  • IT skills (MS Office)
  • High safety culture
