Asset Management Division – Value Accelerator
The Value Accelerator (“VA”) is a critical component of the Asset Management Division investing strategy. In close partnership with the corporate, growth, infrastructure and credit investment teams, the value accelerator contributes to the success of our portfolio companies through the investment lifecycle from pre-investment diligence, to scaling growth, to optimizing exit strategies. The VA team works with experienced senior executives, best-in-class professional services providers, and innovative technology providers to deliver programs and services that add value to our portfolio companies in key areas including revenue scaling, talent, ESG and risk optimization, digital transformation, and operational excellence.
As a member of the VA you will work with deal teams, operating advisors, and senior stake holders to drive value creation initiatives for our portfolio companies in the region.

Overview of Role


A key part of the global Value Accelerator platform and team, The VA Regional Lead will serve as the primary contact for VA for portfolio company management teams, the advisor community and deal teams in the region. The VA Regional Lead will leverage VA platforms and capabilities to deliver value creation opportunities in the region. With a client-service mindset, they will utilize strong communication skills to proactively manage interactions which contribute to portfolio company success and drive value creation. The regional lead will coordinate a community of portfolio company management teams in region and will coordinate events (live and virtual) which contribute to the sense of community and deliver informative content and relationship-building, leveraging content and resources of the global VA team.


The Regional Lead will work closely with local VA Operating Advisors, a group of talented and experienced senior executives who advise GS portfolio companies in key industry and functional areas as a critical component of the VA operating model. Partnering with the global team the Regional Lead will manage the life cycle of advisor engagement in the region from initial onboarding to monitoring portfolio company engagements to evaluating impact. The lead will recommend and assign appropriate advisors for portfolio company engagements, communicate opportunities to the advisor community and own the coordination and agenda for regular advisor meetings.


RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a central point of contact to assist CEOs and leadership teams in navigating and understanding available VA resources.
  • Own the regional extension of portfolio company communication strategy, highlighting VA resources and events and driving awareness of and interaction with VA resources
  • Work with the VA global team, internal teams, vendors and experts to develop and manage Value Accelerator events, interviews & trainings (live / pre-recorded) in the region to deliver value to and build community among portfolio company management teams
  • Identify and facilitate collaboration opportunities across portfolio companies where synergies exist, including commercial relationships (preferred and discounted services)
  • Oversee a high-touch orientation and on-boarding experience for new advisors joining the VA and GS vendor network
  • Get to know the advisors and document their backgrounds, skills, capabilities, interests, and focus areas; Identify additional capabilities or advisors required to support the portfolio
  • Recommend and assign appropriate advisors for portfolio company engagements based on fit, experience, and availability
  • Build and maintain relationships with the VA Advisor community, serving as the principal ambassador for the VA towards the advisor community in the region including regular updates and advisor meetings
  • Monitor VA portfolio company engagements and collect feedback from management teams in the region and report on key operational and impact metrics, to better understand the effectiveness of engagements

Qualifications

  • Client-service or business development experience in financial services, professional services, hospitality, retail, or related field and customer-first attitude
  • Experience and enthusiasm for developing and maintaining strong business partnerships with portfolio companies and the VA advisor community, a natural connector eager to identify opportunities to create connections between portfolio companies and advisors to support key initiatives
  • Proven experience with structuring and overseeing effective meetings and events
  • Self-starter and innovative thinker who can design new high-impact engagement strategies
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Results-oriented individual comfortable developing appropriate metrics and KPIs to measure business outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate professionally across investment teams, portfolio company leadership, and external service providers at all levels
  • Ability to work well with diverse stakeholder groups, as well as execute independently to meet deadlines

  • Experience held within the Finance, Business, Sales, or Banking industry is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field
