Job Description

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

Reporting to the Practice Manager – Legal Services, the Legal Support Officer – Legal Services is to contribute to the day to day operations of the legal support services team through the delivery of high quality, accurate and efficient administrative service.

In this role you will:

  • Provide accurate and timely administrative support to staff of the Legal Services Team, including filing photocopying, scanning, and preparation of large PDF documents.
  • Assist with the preparation of correspondence using template formats including closure correspondence and acknowledgement letters.
  • Answer and respond to incoming telephone enquiries.
  • Provide diary management, organise meetings including preparation, distribution of agendas, minutes and other material.
  • Assist with the storage and archiving of completed files and other documents and arrange for the retrieval of files/documents as required.
  • Liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders in a professional manner, including members of the Boards, tribunals and external legal advisers as required.

As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following :

  • Certificate II in Business Administration (Legal) or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a complex administrative environment.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in a range of applications including Microsoft Office and experience using electronic databases.
  • Sound organisation skills including excellent time management skills plus the ability to prioritise workload in response to time critical targets.
  • Sound interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and experience in dealing with people at all levels
