Job Summary

Finance Controller to the China manufacturing operations. This finance leader has oversight for potentially 2 manufacturing sites in China and supervises the sites’ accountants.


  • Drive, manage & present critical financials deliverables for the organizations which will include the Long-Term Strategic plan (3+years), The Internal Operating Plan (1 year), Interim Forecasting cycles (3 per annum) & Monthly actuals reporting (12 x per annum).
  • Act as primary interface manufacturing operations and plant managers to report financial results and assure proper controls. Develop and implement procedures that ensure compliance and consistency across the business.
  • Maintain and develop key performance measures and tracking systems (through standard work) for each site to measure P&L results, capital, Inventory and cost savings projects.
  • Manage & Co-ordinate Annual Standard Cost Roll for the Manufacturing Plants.
  • Drives cashflow analysis and business case analytics for capital proposals, make versus buy, sku rationalization & NPI development.
  • Participates in daily Tier meetings, Gemba walks & develops finance metrics to support site performance and shop floor productivity
  • Finance lead for S&OP.
  • Drives & owns the site E&O process with the planning team.
  • Participates in the Material Review Board meetings.
  • Key finance point of contact for Commercial finance queries
  • Perform an audit function where needed to assure reporting systems and processes are being followed on a consistent basis and within the company policies. Lead all compliance efforts including internal control and ethics policies.
  • Prepares and reviews monthly results and ad hoc analysis to determine methods of increasing operating productivity through higher efficiency and/or cost control.
  • Pulses daily volume, cost, headcount, etc. metrics to identify trends/issues.
  • Ensures business activities and processes comply with applicable laws and/or US GAAP.
  • Actively participates and leads team on proposed new production.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • The candidate will be a proven finance leader with 8+ years of progressively responsible financial and accounting leadership experience with global, manufacturing-driven organizations. He or she will have ideally worked in a public company so will be familiar with the cadence and requirements of a publicly reporting organization. An undergraduate in finance or accounting is required. An MBA and/or CPA is preferred but not required. 
  • Experience in a company known for having a “state-of-the-art” supply chain. Understand what is happening in Supply Chain – e.g. outsourcing/core competence - context and why -outside, best practice company experience (why we're going outside vs. internal).
  • Six-Sigma and/or regimented process methodology experience is desirable, but not a Requirement
  • Background in pharmaceutical, life science or medical device industries is preferred
  • The person should be able to lead a small team
  • The candidate will be a person of the highest integrity and professional standards.
  • Fluent in written English, fluent in oral English is preferred

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

The candidate will have been an effective “business partner” to a manufacturing and operations senior leadership team and have played a lead role in driving business performance, rather than simply managing an accounting function. A track record of having

worked in a business undergoing significant change is helpful.  The candidate must be solution-oriented, focused and motivated, and display solid decision-making capability. He or she should demonstrate an ownership mentality and a predisposition to roll up his or her sleeves.

•  A career history that includes positions in control and financial analysis, as well as exposure

   to other financial disciplines, to include cost accounting, financial reporting and consolidation

•  Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly obtain the necessary credibility with the senior team, both divisional and corporate, to take charge of the

   Global Manufacturing Finance function and exhibit strong leadership.

•  Strong systems background and broad understanding of plant operations, data base

   systems, central mainframe processing and three-dimensional data. 

•  Proficiency with ERP, ERD system implementations (SAP or similar).


Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of   temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs
