Our Financial Advisory Services team is looking for a Financial Modelling Manager to join our GTA team and own the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the design and delivery of financial modelling for a wide-range of model build and model assurance activities for a broad range of BDO Advisory engagements, including Valuations, Corporate Finance, Due Diligence, Value Creation and Financial Risk Management.
  • Using financial and numerical analysis to operate, enhance and fine-tune models.
  • Detailed analysis of project models and associated documentation and reporting in providing financial model assurance.
  • Building scenario-based financials models to illustrate the pro-forma one-time and ongoing financial impact of different performance improvement or business growth initiatives (impacting top-line revenue, margin, costs or working capital).
  • Conceptualizing, designing and constructing a variety of bespoke / custom financial models to support business cases for investment in particular projects or business initiatives.
  • Synthesizing large data sets with goal of uncovering performance / business improvement issues.
  • Coordinate with national and international team members across several continents to ensure timely delivery of client assignments, to budget and compliant with internal methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with infrastructure and real estate investors, investment banks, construction companies, developers and other market participants.
  • Build existing and new business through business development and account management.

  • You will ensure work is complete, accurate and appropriately reviewed by maintaining the necessary technical knowledge and professional development.
  • You will recommend and implement quality or efficiency improvements to our engagements.
  • You will actively engage in communication with people leaders to ensure understanding of performance and development, while identifying and attracting top talent.
  • You will support our firm's revenue growth by referring clients to other services lines and new clients of BDO.

Your experience and education

  • 3 to 5 years of experience working on real estate, infrastructure, construction, or institutional investor mandates at a professional services firm, investment fund, construction company, development company, financial institution or similar organization(s). Experience with strategic business case development would be an asset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including strong knowledge of VBA.
  • Experience running spreadsheet software auditing tools and analyzing the results with a view to concluding on the integrity and accuracy of the models.
  • Strong organization, numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen, commercial understanding and ability to communicate clearly.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (French is considered as an asset).
  • Ability to lead by example, manage complex projects and mentor junior team members
  • Motivated and hard working in order to meet client deadlines and provide excellent client service.
  • Willingness to learn and be a team player.
  • A Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset.
