The Clinical Operations Division

The Clinical Operations Division encompasses acute and mental health services with a focus on excellent care, every person, every time.  We provide a wide range of general medical, surgical and speciality services including oncology, cardiology, renal, emergency, women’s and children’s, critical care, specialist clinics and mental health services.

Within a state of the art hospital, the team provides high quality services using the latest technologies.  Our eleven operating theatres (including 2 endoscopy rooms), critical care, emergency and women’s wards all have access to critical services lifts that link to the helipad allowing rapid transfer of patients both in and out of the health service.

The Mental Health Service is a complex service that provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment area in Victoria stretching from Swan Hill in the north of the state to Gisborne in the south. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service provides services to patients from birth to 17 years, the Youth Team covers ages 18 to 24 years, Adult Services cover patients from 25 to 64 years and the Older Person’s Service manages those individuals over 65 years old. 

Each year our onsite specialist clinics provide almost 95,000 occasions of service, we also see more than 52,000 people in our emergency department and welcome around 1400 babies into the world.  The Clinical Operations Division assists with the admission of more than 49,000 patients into the hospital each year.

The Position

The Manager of Bendigo Healths newly opened Residential Rehabilitation Dual Diagnosis Unit will lead staff to support patients to safely achieve AOD withdrawal. This is through an abrupt cessation or gradual reducing regime in coordination with a multi-disciplinary team, including medical services. 

The role provides managerial and clinical leadership to assist patients to cease or reduce AOD use to a level that restores a person’s health and wellbeing in the short term and provides a firm foundation for a person’s longer term improved health and wellbeing. Forming part of an integrated and coordinated care pathway via linkage with the care and recovery coordination and counselling services

Hours: 80 hours per fortnight with an ADO each 4 weeks

Essential:
01.Current registration as Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Essential:
02.Demonstrated clinical experience and training in assessment and treatment of people with both alcohol and drug dependence problems and psychiatric illness, and ability to provide clinical leadership with in a multidisciplinary team.

Essential:
03.Experience in leadership and managing residential rehabilitation services, ideally in the alcohol and other drug treatment and mental health sectors.

Essential:
04.Demonstrated leadership, human resource management and interpersonal skills, along with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Essential:
05.A comprehensive knowledge of the relevant legislation applicable to the provision of psychiatric services in Victoria along with a sound understanding of the requirements of service delivery within the alcohol and other drug treatment sector and context of Federal and State Government policies and

06.Demonstrated knowledge or experience of the budgetary process and resource allocation, with an ability to develop, monitor and manage a budget.

07.Sound working knowledge and demonstrated experience in the implementation of Quality Improvement including the National Safety and Quality Health Service standards and National Standards for Mental Health Services.

08.Ability to lead a team in an environment of change and continuous improvement.

09.Appropriate knowledge of information technology to enable active participation in aspects of management requiring computer literacy.
