Manager Risk & Control Enablement, Payment Services Technology Risk – Permanent Full Time

Payment Services Utility (PSU) is one of the many critical business units within Enterprise Services, comprising of the Technology and Operations functions required to process payments on a day-to-day basis. It is better known as the “payments processing hub” of the CBA Group, dedicated to assist in delivering products, services and productivity benefits to the CBA Group’s customers through world-leading underlying technology and operations.

The ES Controls Office (ES CCO) consists of Risk & Controls Enablement, Risk-in-Change, Control Assurance and Operational Risk teams. These teams work with the business, including Project and Portfolio Managers, Service Owners, Business Owners, Enterprise Procurement and Partnerships (EPP), Infrastructure and Cyber Security teams to capture and assess technology and operational risks and test mitigating controls identified through major projects and change initiatives across the Group.

The ES CCO PSU Team, as part of the bigger CCO – Safe Sound Secure Team, supports the Payment Services Utility business unit, both from an operational and technology risk lens in the delivery of their outcomes within an effective risk culture. This role will see you working closely with business stakeholders across Domestic, International and Merchants (POS) payment domains, delivering valuable insights to enable effective decision-making and providing advice and assurance over controls.

Do work that matters:

The Risk & Controls Enablement team within PSU Technology is responsible for ensuring that new and changing processes are assessed, awareness is raised and risk mitigations are in place. They achieve this through the effective design & implementation of controls to enable compliance and supporting the business through new and changing processes.

You will work with internal business partners and their respective technology estates to provide Risk Management advice and coordination of the implementation of Risk Management activities.

A key responsibility for this role includes:

You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA's Values and People Capabilities:

  • Responsible for the design and implementation / support the business to design and implement controls to enable better risk and compliance outcomes
  • Manage root cause analysis of issues and incidents, identifying and implementing control improvements
  • Responsible for data quality in various databases (including RiskInSite),  monthly management reporting and Control Self-Assessments (CSAs)
  • Responsible for ensuring the correct risk and controls overlay the end to end process mapping and documentation management to support the control process
  • Undertaking diagnostic deep dives on the risk and control environment in the portfolio, identifying and implementing systematised control improvements, where possible
  • Understanding the evolution of  Business’ key risks and controls and working with the other Controls office teams to drive consistency across PSU Technology
  • Identifying, driving and delivering continuous improvement and efficiency enhancements in customer service, systems and processes
  • Completing reporting as required

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Ability to analyse/identify risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions
  • Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems
  • Knowledge of Operational and Compliance Risk frameworks would be advantageous
  • Knowledge on Payments industry trends (not necessary but would be valuable)
  • Sound technology controls understanding and design experience
  • Facilitation skills for workshops and risk culture uplift sessions
  • People leadership skills, including coaching and guiding others
  • Experience in banking/financial services/Big 4 firms, and/or experience in Technology Risk management roles.
