In this role, you have the opportunity to

Design and development of SHA transducers’ mechanical structure components, mechanical tooling and test fixtures for manufacturing the transducers.

Working with both internal and external cross-functional teams of marketing, industrial/ engineering/ industrialization design, purchasing, quality, external supplier, and liaising closely with SHA’s international supply base to optimize mechanical design and deliver consumer value, with consideration of manufacturability, cost and quality in parallel.

Your responsibilities

  • Works as a technical contributor in design and development of mechanical structure and tooling fixture components for SHA’s transducers working with R&D and other functional team members, translating commercial, functional and industrial design specifications into technical concepts.

  • Capable of following product/transducer creation processes, development phases, deliverables, and phase reviews processes, and also at design of product or processes.

  • Responsible for the assigned tasks’ quality of work, reliability, schedule (if appropriate), cost and delegation of tasks on one or more modules.

  • Utilizes theoretical modeling techniques and can apply complex design patterns to well defined problems in delivering solid results in.

  • Design and development of mechanical structures for various transducers/sensors in new product development projects. Design and development of transducers manufacturing and test tooling and fixtures equipment, manage the tooling/equipment’s upgrade, repair, improvements, life cycle.

  • Participate and provide input for pear reviews of mechanical designs.

  • Support supplier management team to qualify vendors for transducers components. Works as engineering interface with mechanical parts vendors to ensure suppliers’ deliverables meet the specifications and deliver on time.

  • Build from overall product requirement to finished products: translate customers’ requirements into product concepts and mechanical designs, implement and test the modules or components, to ensure reliable and efficiency.

  • Works on and completes transducers plastic design tasks for the transducers’ handles.

  • Works in OEM development team to build and release OEM transducers/products.

  • Support and participate in Philips localization and cost reduction projects and conduct components and transducers testing.

You are a part of

Mechanical Engineering group within R&D dept., and reporting to its R&D Manager, contributing the core engineering competency and design and development of our core products.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

Education: Bachelor degree or above in mechanical engineering or related disciplines.


  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in the field of mechanical engineering, developing mechanical components for medical products and have a thorough understanding of modern mechanical engineering tools, methods, processes; solid experience with mechanical test equipment, have manufacturing process knowledge and experience.

  • Familiar with state-of-the-art development techniques and SolidWorks.

  • Have knowledge of the design of mechanical structure in plastic and/or metal and preferably, good knowledge of GD&T and DFM.

  • Familiar with engineering materials (e.g. plastic, steel, aluminum, copper, etc.), heat treating, coating and corresponding manufacturing technology, etc.

  • Requires some product-level knowledge of ultrasound transducers and/or products, some knowledge in a variety of specialties; some clinical knowledge is a plus.

  • Able to effectively work within a project team and utilizes resources to produce optimal results.

Competencies and skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to effectively communicate and/or present complex technical issues to engineers and managers.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of technical requirements associated with area of work and how it relates to the final product (e.g., acoustics/ materials engineering, transducers development).

  • Capable of work from requirements documents and definition of problems as outlined by management and senior engineers.

  • Proficient in both Chinese & English.

  • Thermal simulation competency is a plus.
