Job Description

Katalyst.ph works with several healthcare-oriented businesses—some established, some startups. We’re hiring RNs to be placed in teams that range from patient support to medical billing to chart annotating and review.

Duties will include those listed below, but are not limited to this list. It will depend on the team that you are placed in or are assigned.

  • Patient support
    • Work with patients to help them understand:
      • How their county health plans work.
      • How their health insurance benefits work.
    • It’s a convoluted system, and our patients are in the States, so this may or may not be a bit foreign to you, if you haven’t been exposed to American Healthcare.
  • Payers
    • For the uninitiated, healthcare “payers” include anyone on the “paying side” that doesn’t include the “patient party itself.” So, the patient party is usually, in the case of a health plan, the “member;” in the case of health insurance, the “subscriber.” If the patient/subscriber/member is a minor, there is a “guarantor”—usually the parent, the parent responsible for the kid’s medical bills. Everyone else that’s tied into the financial support of this patient’s care, i.e. the health insurance company or the county health plan or state health program, is considered the “payer.” In medical billing work, you’ll be working and coordinating with payers—a lot.
  • It will be your duty to:
    • Attend training seminars, some of which are only available during a night shift due to our partner training offices (some of which are U.S. county and state offices—as well as federal offices) that only hold and host these trainings during the hours of business in the States.
    • Train in-house on a myriad of platforms that you may/may not be familiar with, such as Kareo, Practice Fusion, GE Healthcare’s Centricity CPS, and a wide variety of in-house proprietary platforms.
    • Produce well written memos, emails, and short position papers on how to automate repetitive manual tasks. A core belief at Katalyst.ph is that the human mind wasn’t built for rote, repetitive, mind-numbing, assembly-line labor—it’s not humane! [Like being caged up like a wild animal! —Though even wild animals don’t deserve to be caged up.] This is why we cultivate a culture or programmers, regardless of what your background is or practiced discipline is; we believe that anybody could code, and that anybody can develop an instinct to code—and should.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At minimum, our billing teams require college graduates with nursing degrees. Our hiring team will not entertain high school level-only graduates.
  • A nursing degree is mandatory, and we place preference upon candidates that have an active nursing license.
  • We prefer registered nurses with 2+ years of experience in the BPO industry, and 1+ year in medical billing in particular.
  • Our offices weigh heavily on the prospects of a candidate, i.e. the candidate's aptitudes and abilities to adopt quickly and learn quickly, especially as it perstains to training on new healthcare IT systems (EHRs, EMRs, prescription management systems, etc.)
