Area Medical Director, EMEA Transfusion Medicine (m/f/d)

In 2017 we successfully launched Alinity and began closing customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa. We are now working to bring Alinity to other parts of the world and accelerate our success in converting our customers as well as winning new business.
Abbott Transfusion Medicine is looking for an Area Medical Director, reporting directly to the Global Medical Director, to help lead the Medical and Clinical Affairs organization that supports our $600 million dollar business globally.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and direction over the EMEA Medical, Scientific and Clinical Affairs organization
Reporting to Global Medical Director, Transfusion Medicine
Based in Wiesbaden, Germany
Ensure successful planning and execution of medical and scientific research studies
Development and distribution of educational symposiums, lectures, materials and engagements
Support EMEA marketing and commercial teams
Engage with policymakers
Evaluate risk and ensure product quality and safety in market
Along with global medical affairs staff, serve as Abbott representative to the EMEA medical community and key opinion leaders
MINIMUM & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Physician (minimum) with a specialization in Transfusion Medicine (preferred)
Working within the field for Transfusion Medicine for a minimum of 2 years
Proven ability to set vision and strategy and ensure effective execution across a large, complex organization
Expert level knowledge in transfusion medicine, the delivery of healthcare and how diagnostics impacts patient delivery and care
Demonstrated leadership experience in attracting, developing and managing highly educated personnel diverse backgrounds and interests in a high performing technical organization across multiple locations
Comprehensive understanding of EMEA and Global regulatory environment, Clinical research, and Quality Systems
Skilled change agent with experience driving excellence process and organizational shifts
Business fluent English
