What we do

Merantix transforms how businesses, healthcare organizations, and governments operate by building products that apply machine intelligence to their enterprise datasets. We acquire datasets that enable promising products, incubate those products, and spin off ventures to support their growth. We take advantage of three core competencies: Our experience applying machine learning, our expertise fostering enterprise partnerships to assemble vast datasets, and our culture of rapidly iterating to build scalable products.

Our projects are meaningful and diverse. Currently we work on:

• Automated medical image diagnosis
• Deep neural networks used for autonomous driving
• A solutions unit which develops AI strategy and applications across industries, on a project basis

As our current ventures progressively grow mature and become more independent, we will look into new industries such as satellite imagery, pharmaceutical drugs, industrial IoT and automated manufacturing.

Our team is made up of entrepreneurs, scientists, and engineers from premier universities around the world. Many of us have PhDs and work experience at top tech companies. We’re based in Europe’s startup capital, Berlin, and are growing quickly!

Are you passionate about developing impactful applications of machine learning? Does the prospect of dealing with complex problems in different fields excite you? Do you want to play an instrumental role in building deep learning solutions?

Merantix is looking for a Senior Machine Intelligence Engineer to join our Labs team. Among your main responsibilities will be to:

• Interact with clients to scope machine learning projects and their technical feasibility
• Research and prototype state-of-the-art deep-learning models
• Integrate machine-learning models into production-ready software solutions
• Uncover scalable, machine-learning enabled business opportunities

MX Labs conceptualizes, builds, and scales machine-learning solutions for clients across all industries. Solutions we have developed include a computer vision system for automated inventory, an intelligent quality control systems for manufacturing, document understanding solutions, as well as a medical imaging detector for skin diseases.

We are looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to join our team of engineers and entrepreneurs on our mission of becoming Europe’s leading AI solutions provider.

Basic qualifications:

• PhD in computer science, machine learning, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  
• Demonstrated experience in independently developing integrated ML software solutions, including backend and frontend.
• Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Google Cloud Platform, PyTorch, Apache Beam, Docker 
• Demonstrated programming experience with a variety of (deep) machine-learning tasks
• Proven experience in independently completing complex technical projects
• Passion about keeping up high software engineering standards, keen interest in maintaining and continuously improving a complex code infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with backend and frontend engineers in order to build high-quality integrated ML software solutions
• Keen interest in developing products and uncovering the potential of technical solutions for a range of real-world applications
• Confidence and ability to interact with clients, to understand their problems, and to design as well as to explain complex technical solutions
• Excellent oral & written communication skills in English
• Proven leadership experience and passion for people development

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience delivering high-quality code reviews and working with a large codebase
  
• Excellent oral & written communication skills in German
