Summary of Role :



The candidate will work as part of a global team that develops and maintains GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ design management and characterization system for silicon test vehicles, an in-house database and software application used by hundreds of employees worldwide. Primary responsibilities will be to work with team members and end users to specify business processes and standards, code these specifications into the application, and provide end-user support. Coding responsibilities include integration of the application with other software and hardware, for example, interfacing with test equipment drivers and modeling software in a silicon-modeling lab.



End-user support will include helping debug user issues and assisting with upload or download of large sets of data. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills in order to support end users on a daily basis. Strong teamwork skills are required in order to work effectively in our group environment. The candidate must proactively improve our software application, anticipating issues before they become a problem for end users.              



Essential Responsibilities :



  • Collaborate with team members and end users to specify business processes and standards for silicon test-vehicle development and test setup

  • Develop and maintain the software application, written in Smalltalk; Smalltalk training will be provided . Follow Agile principles for developing software in a team environment

  • Work with silicon test-lab engineers to interface the software application with testing equipment

  • Provide end-user support in the role of an Application Engineer, mainly debugging issues and providing user training (shared responsibility with other team members)

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs



Required Qualifications :     

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

  • 6 or More Years Of Relevant Experience

  • Travel Requirements:   up to 10%, mostly within U.S.

  • Language Fluency:   English (Written & Verbal)

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in EE or CS

  • Semiconductor industry experience in test lab setup and characterization; familiarity with instrument communication concepts such as virtual instrument software architecture (VISA) and GPIB, USB and Ethernet interfaces

  • Semiconductor industry experience with compact modeling, test-structure design and/or integrated-circuit design

  • Demonstrated experience in database application programming: db2 preferred, but Oracle or mySQL acceptable. db2 training will be provided

  • Demonstrated programming skill in Java, Smalltalk or similar object-oriented language

  • Demonstrated experience in programming/scripting for Linux operating systems
