Overview of the role:

As a Senior IP Network Engineer you will be joining an expanding Operations team working on one of BT major customer accounts, supporting their MPLS core, ISP Services (Including security) and Datacentre IP infrastructure. Your duties will also encompass all implementation work carried out on customer network.

The Senior IP Network Engineer will also be responsible for supporting real time operational systems, providing leadership and guidance on resolving complex technical issues, owning operational processes and ensuring support is provided to meet service level standards. A key focus of the team is continuous improvement and learning of the existing and new technologies being deployed.

What will you be doing as a Senior IP Network Engineer?

  • You will be working with the Design team and be responsible for the implementation of Technical projects, along with leading and improving upon peer reviews of technical projects on all designs before deployment into service.
  • As a Senior IP Network Engineer you will draft reports and make recommendations to managers and project sponsors on operational stability projects along with acting as a leader on transitioning the Method of Procedure (MOP) creation on the team.
  • With your experience, you will be tasked with Investigating, propose and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Network Change process, along with proving the operational support of IP network across all customer datacentres and acting as a key contributor and provide expert advice to the team and other groups on technical and operational issues
  • You will be responsible for troubleshooting Operational issues on the IP network.
  • Automation of select network administration tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools, will also be a task which you will be required to undertake.


What makes a successful Senior IP Network Engineer with BT?

  • An experienced IP Engineer who has a CCNP or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity or experience with Firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Fortinet)
  • ISP and/or Mobile telecommunications experience desirable
  • Cisco Nexus Datacentre solutions or Juniper would be highly benefical
  • Display innovative thinking by acting on own initiative to identify & resolve problems.
  • Ability to script/automate tasks using python or another programming language
